The newest racist: PB&J sandwich

I had 3 PBJs for lunch. That must mean i'm right next to One-Balled Adolf on the "Racist Scale".

cool, we finally get to test Helix's law in the wild!

Helix's Law said:
Given enough time and participation, even a thread about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich will turn into a bitter partisan fistfight.

Heck I thought this was going to be about how schools are banning peanuts and peanut butter from schools due to allergies. Not something stupid like discussing PB&J sandwiches being tools of domination

Clearly, PB&J sandwiches say "Get out of my country!".
Especially if your mom wraps them in wax paper.

Yep, and instead of seeing it as a way to marginalize immigrant kids, sounds more like a great conversation starter for everyone involved to learn about other cultures. For a supposed melting pot, some people sure have some bizarre ideas of dealing with other cultures. Keeping them at arms length is nor the way to go about it. I love hearing the stories immigrants have about where they come from and what they do there that's different than here.
The best and most fun way to get to know another culture, is date them! ;)

Maybe it's more racist to assume other cultures don't enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Yes, we do eat tortas but we also love PB&J (or PB&B peanut butter and butter).
I wonder if Portland schools have "Taco Tuesdays". I'm sure some white and Somali kids don't eat tacos at home.

Sure would be nice, one of these days, if schools would focus more on teaching things like math, science and English, and less on worrying about which kids eat PB&J's.

"peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat" is racist because Latinos play soccer.
Yeah, I noticed the lack of Hispanic surnames while watching the MLB playoffs.

I think I could be happy forever with Little Anita's Christmas chile enchiladas & rellenos...and could afford it too!

(And we ate in a bunch of fancier places in Santa Fe but Little Anita's was still my favorite.)

Bias alert: I live in SW New Mexico so the food is much better down here. Santa Fe probably has some good food, but its a lot different than the rest of the States foods. In other words Santa Fe is a long ways from Hatch.

I'm all about Hatch chilis. And I'm willing to try any of that cuisine.

Little Anitas is a kind of hole in the wall chain (I went in Albuquerque)...and they used Hatch chilis.

You wouldn’t be stereotyping Latinos by their surnames would you?

Math is an invention of the patriarchy and science only enforces cis-white norms.

These people are insane... it’s time to start denying federal funding to districts where too many teachers and admins are leftist

In New Mexico we call them chiles since chili is chili con carne. An example of a local dish is flat enchilada. Or just enchilada (or enchilada plate) not plural since it isnt more than one (it has several layers) and an egg on top.

Here is a local menu, it is a good place to eat. There are many others but this menu link was handy. Menus for LA Cocina Restaurant - Silver City - SinglePlatform

This! I grew up in a neighborhood filled with 1st and 2nd generation immigrants and my school would do many different kinds of culture or ancestry appreciation days where we would bring in some kind of food or item that represents our culture and explain to the class what it means to us. It was a great way to learn about each other and different cultures while showing some kind of respect instead of trying to make some of the kids feel bad that they are different.

Dear Huffington Post:

Why did you report such nonsense?

Have you folks no decency?

I feel sooooooooooooooo sorry for the people of Oregon, once a wonderful state in which to live.

....so it's not peanut butter jelly time?

It can be peanut butter jelly time, as long as it isn't peanut butter jelly sandwich time. What I got from the snippet in the OP was that it's specifically the sandwich part that's racist.

Nope white people ONLY eat sandwiches and the godly ones only eat PB&J on WHITE bread
Latinos only eat tortillas and muslims only eat Pitas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I read in another thread if you have 21 exclamation marks it means its true)

Here in Belgium it's peanut butter and jelly but not on the same sandwich. Chocolate paste sandwiches are very popular but not for me.
