So this just happened....

I'm sitting at my desk and get a notification tone but it's different than other notifications I get. When I looked the only thing I could see is that my Weather Channel app seemed to be the source of the notification. When I clicked on the app there was a headline that said "Particularly Dangerous Situation: What we know>". Naturally, wanting to be apprised of whatever weather catastrophe was coming my way on a rather pleasant, sunny afternoon, I selected the notification and, after a nice 15 second ad, was apprised that there was a storm on the east coast.

Maybe it's just me but isn't playing an ad before a "Potentially Dangerous Situation" notification a little weird?

What? Progressive Insurance has an insurance solution for all you insurance needs. Incoming nuke from NK. That's right. Check to make sure you have full coverage on everything.

Now, if the advertisement was for Band-Aid's, or Depends, or a coupon to use at Home Depot after the storm, then it may be very relevant - and I would think that the reason they show the ad before the notice of a "Potentially Dangerous Situation" is that after seeing the video or reading the statement, well, who the hell is going to wait around to watch a 30 second ad?

Yes, as is warning someone in Arizona about a storm on the East Coast.

On a somewhat related note I got an email from my credit card today. I had forgotten but today's the 4 year anniversary of our getting together. My credit card thanked me profusely for allowing it into my life.

I responded by saying that as an anniversary present it would be really nice if my credit card would knock 10% off my balance.

It hasn't responded yet.
