A woman was arrested for driving under the influence -- on the way to her wedding.

Marana Police arrested the bride-to-be Monday morning outside of Tuscon, Arizona, after a three-car collision. One person was injured.

Sgt. Chriswell Scott tweeted a photo of the woman about to get in the police car and wrote, "Don’t drive impaired, till death do we part doesn’t need any help."

Scott said the bride-to-be was released later Monday.

It's customary for the groom to be waiting a bit on the church steps. But this sounds a little excessive ...

Pure stupidity, she no doubt deserved the evening in jail, and hopefully she learns from this.

I do want to say though that I'm really tired of police getting a kick out of humiliating people via social media. No doubt many people deserve to be shamed, but I think what she went through was embarrassing enough, without the added insult on social media.

Agreed.

Unprofessional at best, and unbecoming of a civil servant at worst. I personally think the copper should face a little discipline or reprimand, here.

No.

There isn't enough.

Especially that quote, its a keeper.

I will back ANY move police make that is within the constitution that will reduce accidents and or crime. If they are adapting to new technology that's fantastic.

Without that tweet NONE of us would even know about it...this way several million get the message that being drunk behind the wheel is not only stupid, but dangerous.

FYI, when the city of Vancouver almost went up in flames with a riot in 2010 (over the 7th game of the Stanley Cup, what else? We're Canadian) the police reached out for people to send them any video they had. The VPD then posted pictures of the greatest offenders, all of whom soon turned themselves in due to public pressure. Oh, and only two went to jail. The others the court figure having their lives destroyed on the internet was a good start and fined their asses. A woman who would have a career in modeling but is now serving burgers at MacDonald's.

Yes, more social media, more peer pressure and we'll all be safer and happier.

Agreed on this kind of situation...

OTOH.. I have been to Vancouver several times, A beautiful city, loved the aquarium..

It's been a few years since the last visit though..

Damn. If you have to get drunk before you get married, you might want to take a slight pause ---

Usually the drinking comes after.

Nowadays they say you have to visit twice a year or you won't recognize it.

The lower mainland now Greater Vancouver is now growing to 3 million, and Vancouver has only one direction to grow.,....that's up.

It takes a special kind of person to settle here. Refugees of course see paradise, while Americans may see us as "backward"; I was told that on a forum like this because we don't have any expressways in the city. In 1967 a referendum was held and limited access highways were banned. So, to an American getting across town in his car quickly that's a serious problem.

But the people who move here and stay recognize the benefits in clean air and water and we boast one of the best public transit systems in the world. Crime rate laughable compared to any US city.

There are big problems:

The Canucks suck, parking is expensive, pot still isn't legal although there are a few hundred 'medicinal' shops operating kinda within the law, which in Canada is kinda good enough.

Did I mention the Canucks suck.

Talking about trivia.

The word HONEYMOON comes from the viking tradition of sharing a cup of mead (honey wine) before bed for one lunar cycle after the marriage. (honey moon). Considering that quite often the marriage was arrainged, and that a younger girl often was given to an older man, getting drunk was a necessity.

Um... Vancouver has way bigger problems than you mention... like no affordable housing (crappiest tear-down house is selling for almost $700,000); the city's architectural heritage is being obliterated to build expensive condos that are just used to park the money of rich foreigners; people are crammed into group living at $700+ for just a room.

Basically you have to be wealthy to live there comfortably now. I'm so glad I left Vancouver when I did and moved to the country years ago after getting married, we are much happier here. A good friend of mine is an MD in Vancouver. Her husband is a computer tech person for Amazon. They can't find affordable childcare anywhere in the city yet one of them can't be stay at home because then they won't be able to afford to live. So they are leaving Vancouver for Alberta. These are white collar people. Families are leaving in droves and schools are being closed down, yet condos are being built at lightning speed... so they can stand empty. Big money has decimated the place.

Not to mention the art scene is dead. All the artists left and all the affordable artist spaces are gone. Everything has been gutted so that people can play real estate like they do the stock market. It's really, really sad.

Yikes.

Not the best way to start off a marriage.

I am glad we are in a modern western world. now if only more states would pass laws against child marriage

I am watching a documentary on Netflix by Ken Burns about prohibition. He said that, pre-prohibition, girls were considered of legal age at 10 years old. 10 years old.

Now, I don't mind the romeo and juliet laws for people who are over 14 , even if that's still too young, but 10 ??? No.. Just NO.

If the tweet prevents one more drunk driving arrest/accident, let them tweet. May be the next person will think twice about getting behind the wheel.

Yeah, I was like, "Ewwww..." 10 years old isn't physically mature enough to have sex. 10 year olds are usually very tiny.

I don’t have issues with them posting about crimes and other incidents for that purpose but I would question them publishing identifiable images of suspects in relation to them, clearly implying unconditional guilt. It’s perfectly possible that the woman turns out to have been entirely innocent one way or another, in which case the tweet could be considered libellous.

Even girls that are 14 or 15 will have complications due to pregnancy that can last a lifetime. However, the hormones are kicking in, and they will experiment, no matter what their parents say... which is why I think people need comprehensive sex education, rather than 'abstinence only'. But 10?? There is some heavy manipulation and assault going on.

I've never understood the "abstinence only" route. Kids are going to have sex. The cruel irony in being a teenager is that, while your body is growing and changing, and your hormones are out of control, and nudging you to do things that you shouldn't do, the part of your brain that tells you not to do that doesn't completely mature until you are around 25. Long out of your teens. So by the time you are old enough to know that you shouldn't do stuff, you have lost the desire to go bat-**** crazy anyway.

Give them the knowledge, give them access to birth control.. let them know the risks (including STD's and how to prevent them).. and you will actually have less people having sex pre-16

She caused an injury accident. A little public shaming is the least of her worries, and the minimum we should do to scumbags who hurt people while driving drunk.

It's not libel. She was arrested for DUI. Fact.
