A missing employee at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was disappointed he didn’t receive a promotion and told a Georgia neighbor to delete his phone number shortly before vanishing earlier this month, reports said on Tuesday.

Timothy Cunningham, an epidemiologist at the CDC, left authorities scavenging for clues after the 35-year-old left work early on Feb. 12 and never returned. Cunningham had called his sister that morning and talked to his supervisor about a promotion he didn’t receive, FOX5 Atlanta reported. He reportedly told several coworkers he was disappointed after not being promoted to be a branch manager.

"This is an extremely unusual set of circumstances," Atlanta Police Department Major Michael O’Connor said Tuesday. "We deal with missing person cases fairly regularly here. The circumstances on this one, just beyond the fact that he's a CDC employee, but just as a general person are unusual."

I've got a weird feeling about this one. Did he tell the neighbor to remove his phone number to protect him? Is this guy up to no good?

The person is either going to become, or turn someone into, patient zero of the zombie apocalypse.

Cunningham's father Terrell told the New York Times that he had concerns about recent interactions with his son, whom he described as focused on a host of professional and personal issues.

“The tone and the numerous exchanges gave us reason to be concerned about Tim,” he said. “And I don’t know if it’s an instinct you have because it’s your child, but it was not a normal conversation, and I was not comfortable.”

“Tim had been in communication with us extensively on Sunday [Feb. 11], and I pinpoint Sunday because there were some exchanges via phone as well as text that alerted me to be concerned about our son,” his father, Terrell Cunningham, told NBC News.

So we have a very prideful privileged black probably gay mamma's boy who is in the middle of a melt down because his life is not turning out as he had expected, he was hitting a wall, who disappears taking nothing and leaving a much loved dog behind with no one set up to take care of it.....

This adds up to suicide to me, within a few miles of his house.

Time Will Tell

Possibly, but authorities are no doubt aware....

The phone thing is odd, I take it as "Go ahead and take my number out of your phone now, I will be dead soon".....gallows humor after a sort.

I get it.

He may very well be planning something, but since this has made national news I'd be surprised if the authorities weren't trying to track him one way or another.

One hopes they have searched a 2 mile radius from his house, but I doubt it. I knew a woman who got a lump sum divorce settlement and plowed it all into a restaurant for her BF which failed almost immediately, who drove with her three dogs to a lake about a mile from my house and killed herself on one of the wooded trails.....this feels like that.

If the guy had any serious security clearance then you can bet the feds will throw everything at finding him.

Did I miss something here?

I'm thinking he was murdered but either way he's dead.

The problem with that idea is do you ever leave the house without a phone and a wallet, even when you are hopping in a car of someone you know? But I do know of people who desire to die pure, without any of their stuff. Another thing I noticed is that he was in line to get a very prestigious volunteer position, was that going to go away when they found out that he was passed over for promotion? Maybe he did not want to face them after he got passed over? The man clearly has/had a lot of pride, and that can sure be a problem, it sure was for the restaurateur who killed herself...... she had for a year been the buzz of downtown Olympia, and restaurant was about to close, and everyone was about to find out that she had lost everything rather foolishly, that she was a failure, and had failed in near record time...she could not face that.

If he asked the neighbor to delete his number that sounds like he still has his phone. Maybe he just said the hell with it and walked away. Unless laws were broken there is really no issue beyond curiosity.

Unless the Russkies or Chinese nabbed him!

Nope, its pretty clear he was a trouble maker and the deep state's black helicopter team landed and took him to an interrogation camp in Burundi - in the meantime, the neighbor is really an operative for the deep state and is giving investigators false cover story.

And Hope Hicks quitting is also a cover story, she's also going to Burundi as Trumps top interrogator - its well known she looks good in leather, boots, and carries a big riding crop.

I dunno why no one sees the obvious.

What would being black have to do with anything?

Or gay, for that matter?

He just looks at things and all the knowledge just flows into him, even seeing the future. Some say you need to be high to understand it too.

Ah, hell. I don't get high, so I guess I'll never know.

Because to solve this puzzle assuming that what ever happened is what he wanted to happen which is extremely likely, a psych profile is required to figure out what likely happened, and for a male of his age being black and being gay matter as we construct it.

If only your understanding was not so shallow.....I may well be wrong here, but my record on being right is very very good, and that only happens because I know things.

Its called education.
