Now, I know what you're thinking. Stealing a Holocaust memorial is a vile, hateful act, and this thread belongs in Breaking News, not News of the Weird. Well, there's a twist:

The arrested man, 19, who is unnamed because he was a minor at the time of the theft, reportedly stole the statue to give it to a friend as a gift, local media reported. He reportedly is cooperating with police.

Authorities do not believe the theft was motivated by hate, bias or anti-Semitic sentiment, according to NBC Boston.

It takes a special kind of stupid to look at a Star of David-shaped memorial in a cemetery and think to yourself, "well that looks nice, I bet Tim would love to get one of those." Unfortunately, I know a number of people who that are actually retarded enough to pull some kind of **** like this without any malicious intent. I believe this poor dumb bastard is being honest.
