Machete-Wielding Clown Tries To Hitchhike Along Busy California Highway

I didn't know they all float down in California, too.

"Since a machete is technically a tool and not classified as a weapon, it’s not a crime to carry one in public ― unless it’s being used in a threatening manner."

Well that's good to know.

Yes, it is. I wonder if it's still OK if you put fake blood on it to freak people out?

I was surprised they did not do a physic hold on him, he may have expected the police to shoot him!

It does make one wonder just how crazy a person has to be to get taken to the nut house.

They did an on the spot eval which probably meant they asked him basic questions regarding capacity and he satisfied those questions. The guy probably is not mentally deranged...he's probably a douchebag thinking he was funny. As for 'threat'...he was standing by a highway. He probably wasnt much of a threat to passing motorists. Long and short of it, I'd bet today he is bragging to his friends about how shook he made everyone and how the cops were a bunch of whatevers and how clever he is.

Maybe some day he will meet the wrong people to pull his clown act on.

They closed schools here last fall due to.. elevated clown activity in the area.. lol.

haha now that just can't be okay, I would guess that falls under the threatening manner category.

I just find it hard to believe I could actually walk down the street carrying a machete and a policy officer would just roll by and be like, oh it's just a tool nothing to see here.

There is a part of me that would like to put that to the test. Just walk everywhere with a machete in my hand. Use it to point out which drink I want when I go to Starbucks. Pick my teeth with it as I sit on the Metro. Or just tap it against my hand as I browse the stacks at my public library.

Something tells me that wouldn't go over well.

I hate clowns.

Me too. They are not fun or whimsical or light hearted. They're creepy. Nevertheless, I saw a clown driving a Beamer around the neighborhood here last fall.

I find it funny how young kids have to fight in gangs and still end up looking like idiots. Learn to fight and maybe you won't be tripping all over the ****ing place. lol With the way the first group fought they could beat senseless with just a few boxers. lol

I'm creeped out by them because you can't really "see" who they are with all the makeup and the costume, which gives them the ability to hide in plain sight if they are creepers. Yech.

To the OP, I wonder why they wouldn't charge him with disturbing the peace?

I don't get it. Why are they getting beat up? Just because they are creepy? Which they definitely are!

Well, that's where the tragic tale ends, with some poor clown getting whacked.

holbritter, keep in mind, most of the people dressing up as clowns to freak people out are 13-17 years old...

Try it and see. Be sure to use some fake blood.
