[h=1]Lightning Storm Kills Hundreds of Wild Reindeer in Norway[/h]
A lightning storm killed more than 300 reindeer in Norway over the weekend, according to the Norwegian Environment Agency, which released photos of reindeer carcasses lining the Hardangervidda mountain plateau.

...that's going to stink rather badly if they don't clean that up.

and only 118 days until Christmas

That's so sad, but we just can't mess with momma, can we?

Just don't go near for now. The scavengers will have a feast and the bug population will explode. Then they will starve and die by the millions as nature restores the fresh smell. After all that Hardangervidda will be clean again.

Is it an apocalyptic sign of the end times ?

If that's actually true, I'm apparently the only person who finds it incredibly sad rather than incredibly funny. :(

It's been very hot here on the East Coast. Which means lots of thunderstorms. I've read about many people getting hit by lightening this year. Lightening took down 1/2 of a large tree in my backyard. IDK, has Europe been hotter then normal this summer? Have they had a lot of lightening strikes this year?

I think only 1-2 had to strike in an area to kill these reindeer. A strike hits the ground, anything close and grounded dies.

I find it incredibly tasty, does that count?

It is sad, so many deaths so quickly. It's also quite surprising. Imagine over 300 large animals killed all at once by lightning. I had no idea that was possible, did you?

No, I didn't. Thankfully, I hope that's because it is incredibly, incredibly rare.
