Devil’s Advocate here; how does the US occupy the high ground here? The Russians are supplying arms to the Taliban.

The U.S. was supplying weapons for the Afghans to fight invaders who invaded with no justification whatsoever

The U.S. on the other hand was fully justified in invading Afghanistan due to 9-11 attacks.

How many Afghans were involved in the 9/11 attacks?

There is precious little high-moral ground in Afghanistan.

We should have departed when it became obvious that bin-Laden had successfully fled Tora Bora for Pakistan.

Doesn't matter. Osama Bin Laden's organization was behind the attacks and he was in Afghanistan. And the Afghan government refused U.S. demands that he be turned over to us.

there is no moral high ground after decades of conflict

There isn't much. Operation Cyclone goes down as one of those things we have patted ourselves on the back for decades now despite it's actual limited accomplishments and questionable strategic value.

what about after 9/11?

Not sure of your point. 911 was a false flag operation, another case of the official narrative being contradicted by facts.

Our invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq were military aggression straight up. Invasions brought under fraud and deception.

Utterly ridiculous. Another mindless conspiracy theory on a par with the lunar landings supposedly being faked.

When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.

I've been looking at the 9-11 conspiracy claims for more than a decade and a half. And none of them are any more credible than the lunar landing hoax claim. Most of them much less so.

Conspiracy mongering is pure wish fulfillment. A feeling that you are smarter and cleverer than the mass of people because you don't accept the official findings. It is arrogance pure and simple.

No, it's not arrogance on my part. It is simply independent thinking and the asking of questions. You should consider trying it sometime in the future. The downside of such thinking is that you must eventually deal with the fact that the government deceives us. You might not be able to handle that part.

I know the government deceives us. But nowhere to the extent a 9-11 conspiracy would ever suggest. Keeping something like that a secret would be so utterly impossible that there would be no point in trying.

And your post reeks of arrogance. As it indicates you and ONLY you (and a few fellow travelers) are so independent minded and willing to question the government that it puts you above those of us who won't cling to these idiotic theories that have no evidence to support them whatsoever.

I remember when people were claiming that steel couldn't melt at the temperatures generated by the fires in the WTC towers (it can't but it does weaken by up to 50%).

I remember the claims that another aircraft was in the area over the airliner that crashed in Pennsylvania and that this was somehow indicative of something (there was, it was ordered to overfly the area after narrowly being missed by the airliner just before it crashed).

I remember the staggeringly dumb claim that a cruise missile must have hit the Pentagon because there were not large pieces of airliner laying around (despite the obvious that in many airliner crashes the plane is reduced to small debris at best).

I remember the ridiculous claim that U.S. fighters were ordered to stand down on 9-11-01 (ignoring the fact that there were only a dozen or so fighters over the entire U.S. assigned to continental air defense that day, which was typical prior to 9-11 and that U.S. fighters have very rarely intercepted civilian aircraft over the U.S.)

All in all, all of it is too stupid to continue arguing.

In my old age I've adopted a new practice. Sometimes in life it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong. :peace

Good because I have nothing but disdain and disgust for conspiracy mongers.
