We Don’t Have Enough Cash to Build New Nuclear Weapons, Says Air Force Chief

We Don’t Have Enough Cash to Build New Nuclear Weapons, Says Air Force Chief

Nukes or conventional weapons, “the current budget does not allow you to do both,” says Gen. Dave Goldfein.

With Trump/GOP running up a record-breaking federal deficit and coronavirus ravaging the economy, a significant scaling back of military budgets will perhaps be fiscally required.

How many nukes do we need?

As of July 8, the United States has 6,800 warheads, according to data from Hans Kristensen and Robert Norris at the Federation of American scientists. 2,800 of them are retired, 4,000 are stockpiled, and 1,800 are deployed. The total number of U.S. warheads is second only to Russia, which currently has 7,000 of them.

Probably the 1,800 deployed would be fine. Maybe even 1,500.

But remember, we cannot have ONLY the deployed warheads. Extras must be kept available for various obvious reasons including testing, maintenance and training. For a 1,500 warhead deployed force you would probably need 2,500 warheads total.

and those 2,500 warheads would all need to be modern warheads and not include some which have been stuck in an Air Force bunker since 1974.

Degraded results?

Maybe 1.95 Megaton vs. 2 Megaton?

Oh noz!

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

2019. NATO declares space a sphere of military operations.
"Space is important to protect the Alliance," Stoltenberg said.

2020. Russia has tested space weapons against satellites. "Such actions threaten the peaceful use of outer space," the british general said.

What an amazing coincidence. Today, the state Department suggested that Russia create a communication line to prevent conflicts in space.
Of course, this is the goodwill of the powerful United States and has nothing to do with testing russian weapons.
