How the Army officer who testified against Trump could end up in a court-martial

It was not covered up. We all know the story who studied this. Study it and stop blaming McChrystal.

It was covered up because it was an embarrassment to the Army...and McChrystal was at the top of that cover up: Stanley A. McChrystal - Wikipedia

McChrystal was also criticized for his role in the aftermath of the 2004 death by friendly fire of Ranger and former professional football player Pat Tillman. Within a day of Tillman's death, McChrystal was notified that Tillman was a victim of friendly fire. Shortly thereafter, McChrystal was put in charge of paperwork to award Tillman a posthumous Silver Star for valor.

On April 28, 2004, six days after Tillman's death, McChrystal approved a final draft of the Silver Star recommendation and submitted it to the acting Secretary of the Army, even though the medal recommendation deliberately omitted any mention of friendly fire, included the phrase "in the line of devastating enemy fire", and was accompanied by fabricated witness statements. On April 29, McChrystal sent an urgent memo warning White House speechwriters not to quote the medal recommendation in any statements they wrote for President Bush because it "might cause public embarrassment if the circumstances of Corporal Tillman's death become public." McChrystal was one of the first to caution restraint in public statements, until the investigation was complete.[36] McChrystal was one of eight officers recommended for discipline by a subsequent Pentagon investigation but the Army declined to take action against him.[6][37][38][39]

Jonsa, you are a well known enemy of Trump. Not because I say it, you post hate trump diatribes.

Yes I am an enemy of Trump. He has earned my enmity thru his constant lying, his bullying, his bigotry, his cheating, his weaseling, his self aggrandizement, and lack of character.

Those that think the sun shines out of his arse despite the gigantic clustermuck he has made of the nation with his pathetic performance, are a testament to the power of confirmation bias.

Well it was inevitable that the non support for General McChrystal would arise again. Vindman attempted a coup. McChrystal never did.

McChrystal lost control of his staff running at the mouth against the staff of the Potus and vice Potus is the core of it.

In 2015 LTC Vindman was assigned to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff by Gen. Milley who was chief of staff of the Army at the time. Vindman who was born in Ukraine has a master's from Harvard in Eurasian and Russian Studies and became Russia adviser to the CJCS.

In 2018 CJCS detailed Vindman to the staff of the National Security Council in the WH where he became director for Ukraine-Russia.

After Trump drove Vindman out of the WH the LTC returned to his assignment with the chairman JCS who at that time was Gen. Milley. In short, LTC Vindman worked for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and he's back working for the CJCS at the present time, awaiting his recommended promotion to bird colonel and his new assignment to a master's program at either the Army War College or the National Defense University in Washington DC or the Army Command and General Staff College. Vindman has been upward bound for a long time.

So Vindman has been assigned to the Office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs from 2015 to the present. Chairman JCS Marine General "Fighting Joe" Dunford who retired last year had detailed Vindman to the WH. Vindman is back again with CJCS to which Trump said, "Vindman is with General Milley and he can have him."

In other words if Vindman attempted a coup as you insist he did -- when Vindman did no such thing -- then you have to include the Joint Chiefs of Staff in that wild and repeated bleat you keep making. You could start that at anytime of course yet now would seem to be the time for you to do that and to announce it in your morning report.

It is not for the president to decide, but the military to decide. He was ordered not to testify - meaning not to discuss private national security conversations - whether he heard it or it was hearsay. By doing so, he divulged national security secrets in direct violation of orders and acted as a PR agent for Russia, China, Iran and every other foreign power.

His decided that HE is who should decide all foreign policy, that HE should be the president, and that he will divulge private national security secrets to the world to prove how he is the smartest person on earth on foreign policy is outrageous and actual treason - as our enemies use it for PR against us.

He should be prosecuted by the military at a military trial and minimally removed with a dishonorable discharge - and personally I think he should be locked up as an example to others. If higher rankers in the structure are discussing major foreign policy decisions - particularly of military consequence - announcing it publicly is exorbitantly illegal even if not ordered not to.

Imagine if some lt. colonel decided that not giving Stalin designs of the atomic bomb was a terrible idea so he ran to Congresswoman Jeannette Rankin - the first female and only member of Congress to vote against FDR's resolution for war - and then the lt. col. appeared in public to divulged it to the world? After doing so, the lt. col. demanded he be promoted to full colonel for his courage of exposing the his opinion of incompetence of FDR and Eisenhower?

That is who Lt. Col. Vindman is. He is a traitor and became a spy for our adversaries. He divulged confidential discussions involving military aid of military consequences - and tactics for doing so - publicly even after ordered not to.

You are great. Really great.

McChrystal was treated like he was a dog.

I have not kept tabs on Vindman as you appear to have.

I think this country is owed an apology by vindman and if he does, gets his promotion. Duckworth can pound salt.

There is no dereliction of duty. I see you've run away from the other thread to start this one. You're still just as wrong, boy.

I enjoy beating the snot out of Democrats. Thanks for lying by saying you blocked me.

Retiring on his own as a senior flag officer = treated like a dog ..... well, at least in trumpland where the delusional orange cultists live.

I'm not a fan of those who cover up. Thank goodness the Tillman family blew the whistle.

Sure you are. And have a serious honesty problem. You cover up for the incompetence of Obama for instance.

Forced by Obama is the truth.

McChrystal was treated like he was a dog.

McChrystal lost control of his staff bad mouthing the staff of the Potus and VP which scrambled the chain of command and led to his resignation. Obama used his authority to allow McChrystal to retire with full 4-star retirement pay and benefits even though McChrystal's actual grade was 2-star. So McChrystal got what he deserved all around both bad and good.

I have not kept tabs on Vindman as you appear to have.

That's because ignorance is bliss for which you are a morning report legend. Nor do I "keep tabs" on Vindman, preferring to familiarize myself with his military record once he became a household name in the WH and in the houses of congress.

As I noted in scrolling, from 2015 to the present LTC Vindman has been assigned to the Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. Vindman who is up for promotion to bird colonel and career advancement was and remains Russia adviser to the CJCS.

In 2018 Vindman was detailed by CJCS to the staff of the WH National Security Council where he was director for Ukraine-Russia and where he did his duty as required. Accordingly, anything you say against Vindman applies to the JCS and its chairman and for which you must accept individual responsibility in the public square.

As for McChrystal he retired with the maximum possible dignity and respect that he earned and deserved over a long and distinguished career. Indeed, Afghanistan has been the career foil of many generals of many foreign lands who enter there to include your beloved Russian ones.

Had Trump pulled the stunt Obama pulled Democrats would call for his summary execution. McCrystal did not deserve what he got from Obama.

Instead of defending Obama, let's defend the General.

McChrystal Book Details Tensions With Obama - The New York Times

By Michael R. Gordon
Jan. 5, 2013

WASHINGTON — In a memoir, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the former American commander in Afghanistan, writes that tensions between the White House and the Pentagon were evident in the Obama administration from its opening months in office.

The beginning of President Obama’s first term “saw the emergence of an unfortunate deficit of trust between the White House and the Department of Defense, largely arising from the decision-making process on Afghanistan,” General McChrystal writes. “The effects were costly.”

The book by General McChrystal, who was fired from his post in 2010 after an article in Rolling Stone quoted him and his staff making dismissive comments about the White House, is likely to disappoint readers who are looking for a vivid blow-by-blow account of infighting within the administration.

Had Trump pulled the stunt Obama pulled Democrats would call for his summary execution. McCrystal did not deserve what he got from Obama.

The thread and topic are Trump, LTC Vindman and the fact Vindman has the backing of the military while Trump does not have the support of the military on this and so much more beyond this but related to it.

The Colonel's Promotion Board recommended Vindman for bird colonel so now Putin and his rubber stamp Trump want to dictate who in the USA armed forces gets promoted and advanced and who does not.

Trump has already destroyed Capt. Crozier's career while pardoning the criminal Eddie Gallagher and now Putin Trump & Rowers have zeroed in on LTC Vindman. Indeed Trump's relations with the military chiefs, commanders and forces have only gone south since 2017. Presently a number of veterans who have been Trump supporters are getting seriously ticked by Trump and you guys.

So be sure to include this in your Morning Report.
