It never surprises me anymore how many pretzels Trump's mindless minions will twist themselves into, just to dismiss the things that come out of his own mouth.

There's not one single boneheaded, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, inflammatory, violent, ignorant, petty, incompetent, self-serving, vindictive, prevaricating, delusional word/phrase/sentence/speech that falls from his lips, or ejaculates from his tweets, that Trump's cult won't dismiss or make excuses for. Not one. It's been that way since before his inauguration when he told the world he could shoot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose any votes, and they remain totally lacking in enough conscience to be ashamed, or enough working brain cells to be embarrassed. Just like Trump himself, the are uneducable - and just like Trump himself, they're PROUD of it!

I hope they all live very long and healthy lives, condemned to defending him until their dying breath. History will not be kind to them, and they deserve a life sentence of conjuring feeble justifications and excuses for him.

There is not "Trump cult". If people of your "ilk" were not overcome with your disgusting hatred for Trump you would admit that.

But no. You blame him for the Corona virus epidemic and the rioting just has you stupidly blamed him for ridiculous things like overfeeding the Japanese emperors fish and him wanting to feature a couple of tanks in a military parade.

Trump is truly a despicable and disgusting human being. But the insane hatred directed at him is even worse. And much worse for this country than anything Trump has done or could do.

Trump gets this treatment because of who HE is, not who the people of America are. Biden and Gabbard will get the treatment they deserve as well, let's hope they keep this in mind and stick to uniting our country instead of dividing it.
 
Fortunately the governors of surrounding states refused his request of each for 5000 additional National Guard troops. Not everyone is going to let the man exercise stupid to that level.

The peaceful protesters that were driven out of his photo op pathway were not hurting anyone or anything. Do not mistake them for the burners and looters who come out in the later evening for "entertainment".

It was a Trumped up situation.

I was saying I don't think there's anything in the constitution that says we have to tolerate for profit soldiers oppressing American citizens for a corrupt president.

String em up by their guts from the light poles.

That should send a message to the guy who hired them that it isnt going to work, as well as driving up the bill they're gonna send him for their oppressing services.

As to trump, I'm on record saying that I hope he dies cold, broke and alone. In a gutter somewhere. With people like him stepping over him as he would someone dying cold and alone in a gutter.

Far more poetic than making him a martyr for idiots.

But the first "application" of this concept here wasn't protecting lives and property.

It was facilitating a photo op.

That "confusion" is actually deliberate conflation.

These narratives universally lump all of the protestors in with the separate elements involved who are not protesting but using the protests as cover.

Why do I suspect that had the Founders foreseen the potency and ubiquitous nature of propaganda in today's world that they would have worded the 1st amendment differently?

The Constitution is clearly a "tryrant defense system" denying all of the known tools of tyranny to our government.

Every modern tyranny was established and maintained through the use of propaganda tools.

So I doubt they would have protected that "toolset" absolutely had they foreseen that tyrants would come to rely on them so much with so much success.

The cult accustaions come from the uniform, unnuanced acceptance of every single thing trump says or does.

Even when it's the complete opposite of what he swore was the case the day before.

With nary a peep about that previous narrative and a hearty "Fake News!" or "Deep State!" for anybody who points it out.

This is an interesting dilemma for the far right. The Second Amendment which is near and dear to them allowed the creation of militias for the precise reason of guarding against the tyranny of an Army.........now is the time for this militia to prepare....:). An encouraging note is Esper’s disavowal of Trump. It is only a matter of time until Trump replaces him with a pliable member of his cult.

LMAO - I never blamed Trump for the corona virus - only his mishandling of it, which he is guilty of.
I never blamed him for feeding any fish - whatever that refers to.
Asking for tanks in a military parade make him seem like a two-bit dictator. Why would anyone defend that stupidity? The USA is better than that.

And anyone who projects what criticisms might befall Joe Biden or Tulsi Gabbard in retribution has either just slept through the Obama years, and what the Republicans did to him - OR they're posting from Irkutsk. Is that you, comrade Daytonavitch?

Remember that we are schooled today (by whom is open to question) that the MSM is our enemy and that better sources for information exist in blogs and tweets. The Newspaper used to be part of the checks and balances within our society. We have a problem in this country and it is obtaining unpropagandized information upon which to judge the truth and facts of what is going on around us.

Big deal. President Obama got hassled about supposedly being born overseas and not being a natural born American. Other than that the harassment he received is completely dwarfed by that heaped on President Trump and his family.

This is true.....the future is very bleak. Any incoming President will face daily nightmares. This is our country and it might sound like sacrilege but we must ask ourselves if we really are the greatest country in the world. The multitude of our shortcomings are too long to list. I am not sure if a severely divided country can meet these challenges.

Get a grip - We're talking about a hypothetical scenario in which the President mobilizes a paramilitary force without Congressional approval. If/when such a thing happens, all bets are off. You can either accept the loss of our democratic republic in the same way the Germans did in the 1930's... or you can fight it. I know which side of the fence I'd be on.... do you?
 
WWII presented a crisis that united America. Sometimes that is what it takes. I view the pandemic and George Floyd being in this category. Trump has been presented with two golden opportunities to exhibit leadership and work to unite this country. Reasonable observers must surely see that his strategy has been to divide and conquer. Only a long term can assess his success.

Time and time and time again the right wing media threw everything they could at Obama, including making up total fabrications out of whole cloth. No. The mainstream media has been the guardian of our republican democracy for well over 200 years - and that has never changed. The mainstream media exposed the criminality of the Reagan administration in their violation of the Boland Amendment, illegally arming the Contras, illegally dealing arms to Iran in support of holding on to US hostages, and other nefarious criminality. The media that Trump is desperate to discredit is the Fourth Estate, protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution, and nobody who is sworn to support the Constitution would try to tear it down unless they were a traitor.
