In a major win for Wisconsin’s Marinette Marine shipyard, the*Navy selected Fincantieri’s so-called FREMM design, an acronym that stands for “European multi-purpose frigate,” in its original Italian. The shipyard, which is also on the hook for building the remaining mono-hull littoral combat ships and a frigate version of it for Saudi Arabia, is now a major player in U.S. Navy shipbuilding.

Seems like a much better design than the LCS

Looks good. Maybe the U.S. Navy is finally making some good decisions.

Now all we need is 100 or so of them for the U.S. and its allies.

Well at least it's quite likely to be a stylish and purty ship. Italy has made a lot of quality destroyer and frigate designs over the years. Let us hope this is one of them.

Plus the Italian FREMM is 30 knot capable.

Hey! Are the getting the pair of Strales 76/62 mounts?

What isn't?

LOL

I agree,

The LCS, were for coastal patrols, but were on the large and expensive side for that, then pushed into open water usage. Overpriced and underarmed
