Two (former) US Marines - Trevor Reed (28) and Paul Whelan (50) - face 10 and 20 year prison sentences in Russia respectively for 'assaulting an officer' (Reed) and 'espionage' (Whelan).

I never hear Trump talk about these two individuals ever. Why not? He's Putin's boy and Russian spy Mariya Butina is already home in Russia.

They are not allowed bail. Remand prisons in Russia (for individuals awaiting trial) are old and cold. They're probably at Lefortovo detention facility №2 (1883) in Moscow.

Such prisoners are kept in isolation and are worn down mentally over time. Trump can pardon a war criminal but cannot secure the release of two Marines?

wtf?

You don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

Why should he talk about them? How often does he ever talk about people arrested overseas?

They are not allowed bail, so what? They were stupid enough to get arrested in another country. Big shock here, other countries do not follow the Constitution.

Now, let's look at the individuals in question, shall we?

Paul Whelan. He claims to have been a police officer with 2 different departments, but this is a lie. His time in the Marines ended with a Bad Conduct Discharge for theft. Specifically, trying to steal over $10,000. His entire background (including claims of degrees at an institution he never graduated from) are sketchy, and so was what he was doing in Russia. But here is a clue, most of us who were Marines really do not give a damn about those who were kicked out of the Corps. He was a scumbag who was kicked out.

As for Trevor Reed, apparently he was drunk on large amounts of Vodka when he was arrested in a drunken altercation. During his arrest, he then attacked and beat a Moscow Police Officer. Once again, no care given. He was drunk and acting like an idiot, he deserves what he gets.

But the question is, why in the hell should the President get involved in these incidents at all? Are you saying that the President should get personally involved every time somebody is arrested overseas? Or that he should get involved any time somebody arrested is a Veteran (even if they are kicked out)? Or that he only does not get involved because it happened in Russia?

Yea, I get it. You have a major case of TDS. But as far as I am concerned, they should largely rot. The first thing anybody should realize if they leave the US, is that they leave all protections behind. And need to behave and act accordingly. And the actions of Mr. Whelan even when he was in show he was a scumbag before he joined, he was a scumbag afterwards.

But then you wouldn't have anything to whine about.

Trump lays down demands to NATO but NOT to Uncle Vova?

wtf? We've got a Russkie right in the White House.

Poor guy... fell hook, line and sinker for the Russian Collusion Hoax!

This is why Trump will win reelection in November. Mindless babble just like this.

Don't throw facts at this particular OP, it just makes his head spin.

No one is disputing that Reed and Whelan are in a Russian prison and what the Russians have charged them with.

That you and Oozlefinch simply believe the Russian narrative - no questions asked - says quite a bit about the two of you.

Donnie publicly demands the release of US prisoners in Iran, but not of US individuals incarcerated in Lefortovo Prison?

He can pardon convicted US war criminals such as Gaallagher, but not even trouble himself with Reed and Whelan?

If no release is forthcoming, then arrangements could be made for them to serve their sentence in a US prison.

One of the possible alternatives you and Oozlefinch just can't seem to wrap your heads around.

But nothing of the sort is/was expected of you two. If the Kremlin charged them, then certainly they are guilty as charged.

Geezus.

That you and Oozlefinch simply believe the Russian narrative - no questions asked - says quite a bit about the two of you.

And this is why I tend to get so dismissive anymore.

I care about as much as claims like this, as I do about what Birthers scream.

I see those with TDS as brain damaged and defective as those with ODS.

I see both as largely biased partisan hacks, and have nothing of any importance to say.

And all I read in that is "You do not agree with me, you are a Trump lover!"

Well guess what, I did not vote for him and do not particularly like him. The same as I did not vote for President Obama, and did not particularly like him either. But I also did not run around trying to blame him for all the troubles going on, and have this obsessive need to vomit up anything I could think of and try to attach him to it.

And if that is all you can think of to say, to even try to say I am unable to think then as far as I am concerned you have noting of importance to say. Your posts recently have become more and more like others in here, who have this mental compulsion to link everything to the USS Liberty. Or who throw in some random hatred at Turkey or Russia at every chance. It is boring, and requires no thought. And if the only response to a serious question is to dismiss and insult the other person, then it is pointless to continue.

But I did notice that you completely ignored the fact that one of these guys was actually kicked out of the Corps. And as an FYI, those of us who served our time honorably really do not consider those who got themselves kicked out to be "Marines". They are just dirtbags that managed to wear the uniform for a bit before we gave them the boot.

And like the people that scream when somebody with a long violent criminal history gets shot after attacking a cop, I do not care about these 2 idiots either.

One was kicked out of the service. He is a liar, a thief, and a fraud. Stupid enough to do something illegal in another country. Sucks to be him.

The other got drunk off his ass, and assaulted a cop. Once again, sucks to be him.

And I do not give a damn where they are. Russia, China, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Myopia, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, means nothing to me. Break the law in another country, well that just sucks to be you. Next time, do not be a freaking idiot and obey the law.

You are the one obsessing here, not us. And simply vomiting that anybody that does not agree with you is a plant is something that got old a long time ago.
