Kenya Base ‘Surprisingly’ Undefended During Attack, US Officials Say

They did not control "Mainstream Islam", they were a rogue group, that only controlled a small area. And were hated by most Muslims.

And funny, I had family in Vietnam also, and they said the use of grass was nowhere near as big as the movies and media make it out to be. Maybe that is just a reflection that most of those you hung out with used it, not that most used it.

Wow, who would have thunk it. Another I knew someone who knew someone so I am expert. Well, I knew hundreds of guys in Nam and I was one of them. I don't have to rely on some other clown to tell me what was happening. Bet your mom said she never sucked a dick either.

No actually they controlled mainstream Islam using terrorism, the same as the Islamic Extremists are today. Hashish has nothing to do with anything, just a straw dog. Weed was illegal and frowned on by the lifers in Nam too but 90% of everyone I knew used it.

The facts are clear. The VC was not wiped out by TET. Muslim extremist still exist. And no one with a brain thinks we accomplished anything in Vietnam.

There ya go with the insults again.

The Assassin were an organization that was crushed through violence. They didn't "control" Islam any more than any other sect, caliphate or prince did. And the Mongols eliminated them.

Muslim Extremists =/= The Assassins

Eliminated through violence.

As were the Vandals.

As were the Nazis.

As was the Japanese Empire.

My father was at the retaking of Hue. He had nothing but praise for the Marines at Hue.

OK, and with that I am done here. Have a nice day.

In that I agree.

But there are reasons I largely ignore some movies, like Platoon. They give the impression that all of those in the war were dope smoking losers, who fragged their officers and set up those they did not like to be killed. Far to many see movies like that, and come away with the image of the Combat Vet being a damaged, drug using PTSD case that will kill or rape anybody any chance they get.

Hue is one of many "forgotten battles" that the US has been involved in. However, like every other battle in that war the US came out unquestionably on top. NVA and VC forces were destroyed or routed from the area, and the city was returned to the control of the South Vietnamese government. I love how every time some people try to bring up battles like this that were why the US lost, they keep picking ones where the enemy was effectively destroyed.

I always love it when two cherries who have never tasted hot lead tell me what war is like. Let me clue you. There is no John Wayne. There is only live guys and dead guys. Ask your dad why there weren't any prisoners taken at Hue.

And BahamaBob once again insults rather than educates.

The only "hot lead" I endured was sniper fire and the occasional mortar round.

That doesn't change one word of what I have written.

And you haven't addressed the rest of the list.

So you never tasted combat. REMF. The rest has been addressed. There are still Nazis and Muslim Extremist. The VC never went away. You kill a few but you can never kill them all. Only a fool doesn't know this.

Of course, he is also forgetting 2 key factors.

At Hue, the US Forces turned over prisoners taken to the ARVN. And after over 4,000 civilians were massacred by VC hit squads and dumped into mass graves throughout the city, they were not in much of a mood to keep them alive.

Even General Giap admitted to having eliminated "1,892 administrative personnel, 38 policemen, 790 tyrants". In other words, 2,720 people who's only crime was not being Communists.

Sniper rounds don't hurt. Do they John Wayne? Nor do mortars... Do they? Tell me. Did you stand loud and proud when the mortars came? Or did you take cover?

The Nazis were crushed. The modern Neo-Nazis aren't going to march across Europe and kill millions... Are they?

The VC as well.

At least that is what history tells us.

Muslim extremists are not the Assassins. That is historically and factually incorrect. That you continue to conflate the two is sad.

Tell us about the Khwarezmid Empire. Wait. They are no more. Stomped out of existence by the Mongols. How about the Qara Khitai? Oops. The same fate.

Maybe the Carthaginians? No, wait. Crushed under the heal of Rome.

Ah, the Byzantine Empire. Wait. Constantinople fell hundreds of years ago.

Ah, the French Empire under Napoleon! Nope. Waterloo.

I can keep the list going on, and on, and on.

Few things are more pathetic then an Internet tough guy puffing out his chest.

So good job doing that I guess. I am sure everyone is impressed.

A fool with blinders is still a fool.

Gee sniper rounds and a few mortars. Did you wet your pants and soil yourself? Didn't your daddy tell you what a real battle is like? That is what I expect from someone who is afraid to watch movies because he thinks they reflect what war is like. I will give you a clue. The average soldier in Nam saw 240 days of combat in a year. Over 10% were killed or wounded.

You keep yakking about the VC. The same power was used against the NVA, tell me how effective that was.
While you are at it tell me about the something that wasn't centuries ago. Let's hear about the Taliban. Lets hear about ISIS.

And it seems you are still afraid to tell me what was accomplished in Nam.

Again with the insults...

So, sniper rounds and mortars... You did not answer. Do they not kill and/or injure?

As to "the same power" being used against the VC and NVA. So what? It was the Tet that neutered the VC.

And since we have settled the issue about the VC lets carry on.

The Assassins.

Are you still under the historically and factually incorrect belief that they are related to modern Muslim Extremists?

Still playing internet tough guy I see. Trust me when I tell you no one is impressed.

And your numbers are a bit off. Only about half of Vietnam Veterans ever even saw combat so pretending that the average soldier saw 240 days of combat is just nonsense. And after hearing all the tough guy talk you do here it’s pretty clear what half you were.
