The Vietnamese people won the war, because they drove out the round-eye invaders.

As to Vietnam. My opinion is irrelevant to the history of what actually happened there.

VC were neutered after the Tet. It was violence that did them in.

So, the VC. .. Done. Hitler... Done.

The Assassins were nothing but Muslim extremest. Only the smallest brain would think they don't exist anymore. They are about a neutered as the VC.

What do you mean? The NVA fought the 1st Cav. in the Ia Drang Valley in 1965. They were there, and constantly increasing their numbers, during the entire US escalation of the war under LBJ.

That is about what I would expect from someone who thinks the VC were neutered after TET. Intelligent people will tell you the US was neutered after TET. That was the beginning of the end for US involvement in that lost cause. If you take a trip to Ho Chi Minh City you will find numerous statues of VC heroes most of which lived long and well after the war.

Some people are not intelligent enough to understand that one battle does not win a war and that a group joining forces with another group with a shared agenda does not neuter them.

Long before that. The NVA and VC were joined at the hip. They were even allied in the fight against the French. In addition, during TET of 68, the NVA were the force at Khe Sanh. They were also the main force at Hue.

But wait. I thought that that most Liberals and Vietnam War Revisionists were claiming that the VC were indigenous South Vietnamese citizens, that were fighting for Communism. Now you are saying they were an arm of the North Vietnamese Government all along.

Oh, and that was not the Vietcong that fought the French. That was the Vietminh.

And yes, almost all of those at Khe Sanh were NVA. But most of those at Hue were VC. Out of the roughly 1.5 Division worth of NV forces at that battle, only a single Regiment was NVA. The rest was all VC. The NVA was to capture the 1st ARVN Division HQ, as well as Tay Loc Airfield and the old Palace. The VC were to take over the rest of the city, specifically targeting for assassination and military, government officials, and law enforcement they could find.

In fact, that was common procedure for the VC. One thing that I find fascinating was how the execution of Nguyễn Văn Lém is often portrayed as a war crime. Yes, he was summarily execut4d in front of TV and print media. The photo is famous. However, what people always neglect to mention is that he was a VC infiltrator, in civilian clothing. And under the Geneva and Hague conventions, that is counted as a "Spy", and such individuals loose all protections.

And also when he was captured, he was leaving the home of an ARVN Officer's family. After killing him, his wife, their 6 children, and his mother by slitting their throats.

Just remember whenever you see that photograph, that shortly before that the individual shot had slaughtered 3 adults and 6 children with a knife. And as obviously shown, in civilian clothing so not protected under the Laws of Land Warfare.

The General that shot him knew the Colonel executed personally, and his family. SO it is no wonder that he had no interest in doing anything other than giving him a .38 migraine treatment.

Actually, they were a cult. And they were largely condemned by mainstream Islam. Not only because of their use of assassination, but because of the word that that word actually comes form.

Hashish.

Drugs are forbidden under Islamic law, and it is also a common "reward" used for those highest in the cult. And the fact it was overthrown by other Muslims shows that it was more than just "extremists".

No actually they controlled mainstream Islam using terrorism, the same as the Islamic Extremists are today. Hashish has nothing to do with anything, just a straw dog. Weed was illegal and frowned on by the lifers in Nam too but 90% of everyone I knew used it.

The facts are clear. The VC was not wiped out by TET. Muslim extremist still exist. And no one with a brain thinks we accomplished anything in Vietnam.

They did not control "Mainstream Islam", they were a rogue group, that only controlled a small area. And were hated by most Muslims.

And funny, I had family in Vietnam also, and they said the use of grass was nowhere near as big as the movies and media make it out to be. Maybe that is just a reflection that most of those you hung out with used it, not that most used it.
