The level of ingratitude of young progressives and liberals, even older ones, is another reason I despise the Democratic Party - and see young progressives as ungrateful spoiled brats - cursing and condemning old people, Oprah wanting them to die off - calling senior aged white men racists and Nazis and bigots.

WW2 was a war of national survival in the truest sense. If we had just stayed out, Germany and Japan would have conquered the world - including the USA - and they were as murderous and brutal occupiers as possible - enslaving the population - mass murder, mass rape and mass theft.

The story of "Old 666" is a story of how those men fought - with a million other stories of our fighting men around the world in WW2.

Here's the intro - you can jump to about 2 minutes if you want. A bomber crew wanted to get into the fight, but had no aircraft. They found an aircraft so shot up it was to be scraped - and volunteered for a near certain suicide mission - to take recon photos of the landing area for an upcoming invasion of the Solomon Islands. Unescorted.

The fixed up the B17, adding as many more guns and ammo as they could, with the plan of shooting their way thru the Japanese air force, their chances next to none.

Watch it all or jump to about the 2:00 mark. That level of patriotism by American military personnel was all over the world. The little destroyer that took on battleships - still fighting while sinking - stopping a massive Japanese invasion force. Everyone, our American forces fought - sometimes against suicidal odds. It outrages me to constantly hear and read - even on this forum = the NON-STOP attacks against old white by ungrateful punk ass progressives sobbing that now that their parents are paying everything the government should pay everything like mommy and daddy did - while curse their grandparents and great grandparents.

The crew of Old 666 - those guys has balls of iron! There are countless other WW2 tales of our countries true greatest heroes, but this one always stuck with me - a worn out much slower bomber - alone -- against 17!! Japanese Zero that were armed with 20mm cannons!

So first of all, the problem that people like me have with older people isn't so much with those who fought in WWII. It's the baby boomers who came after them. They came of age in the 80's after basically all these major wars had ended. They ran completely unnecessary debts to fuel a strong economy for themselves and now expect their children to pay it all off. That generation arrogantly believed that because their parents won WWII that America was the greatest nation on earth and we were incapable of fault. As a result they arrogantly went around the world telling every other country what to do as if they were now the police of the world just because they were the good guys in WWII.

But in their arrogance they forgot what made Hitler Dangerous, and how he manipulated people. Today they have become the evil their grandparents fought. They are embracing nationalism, and radical Christianity. They see the demographics of the country changing away from white Christianity and in their desperation to maintain their power they have become dangerous. Just as the Germans saw the Jews coming into their country and blamed them for all of Germany's problems the baby boomers that supported Donald Trump see Muslims and Mexicans as the silent invaders who are taking over "their" country. These baby boomers just like the Germans of the 1930's feel as they are justified in treating these outsiders with different religions and different cultures like garbage because in their minds the country belongs entirely to White Christians.

Our Ancestors may have done some great things. They also did some terrible things. But whether America is great or not today has little to do with what our ancestors did. If we elect evil leaders today then we are an evil country today, and it is the baby boomer generation who is primarily responsible for the evil leaders we currently a have in office.

If you are lucky and live to an old age, be prepared to read a post by someone younger stating about you and your generation:

:lamo Very true. I wonder if we'll do any better of a job than your generation has at doing the whole "kids these days" thing. I doubt it....but here's hoping. I think you guys have done enough for a couple generations. ;)

And what of the minorities that fought in WW2, why the need to single out the white ones? Your angst should be towards those who omit the historical significance of a generation that saved not only the US but the world from oppression. The fact that you said "calling senior aged white men racists and Nazis and bigots" shows that you are only concerned about a specific section of war hero's based on race.

Thank you for this post. I found this refreshing, and while I would have been a bit more nuanced (it's not all baby boomers, just a percentage of them), I basically agree and I think it was a fully justified response to the post that you quoted.

Lets not forget, the average age for a 17's crew was 21. A normal 17 flew it's mission being attacked by enemy aircraft on the way to the target. Nearing the target the enemy aircraft broke off and the 17 had to fly through deadly ground fire. Once on the bombing run they had to hold steady till bomb release making them an easier target. On the way back home they took ground fire until out of range then the waiting enemy aircraft came in again. Over 5,000 of these bombers were lost in WWII.

What's a 21 year olds biggest worry today, I can't get any cell phone reception.

He chose to post on a crew of white men and you lament that he did not include all other colors? Make your own post to even it up then, I would suggest boning up on the amazing records of the Tuskegee Airmen and write about them if you are so concerned about color. They were also aviators of great note and deeds and are now also "aged".

For the record, you're complaining about the fact that I'm not being politically correct with you. So which is it? Would you like the truth or would you like me to be nicer?

I'm sure some day that I will here something similar from a younger generation, but whether I'm happy about the statement or not will not change whether or not it is true. They say wisdom comes with age, but it's not automatic. In truth, wisdom comes from experience and there's a lot of baby boomers, particularly living in the rural parts of the country that have a lot of age, but not a lot of experience.

My parents for example grew up in a small mid-western town of 3000 people. All of them white and all of them Christian. They've probably never met a gay person in their life. They've never had a serious conversation with a Muslim or an Atheist. If a black person stopped at the gas station within minutes it would be front page gossip news. They have little or no knowledge whatsoever of other cultures yet they are 100% convinced that theirs is the best and all these other groups can't be trusted.

They believe that because they are older they are wise, but in reality they are very inexperienced. They don't understand much of the outside world at all and as a result they fear it. The idea of even driving on the freeway in a major city is terrifying to them.

They grew up in a time when there were only about 5 TV channels and maybe 6 national publications. In those days there news and information was filtered for them by responsible News Networks. They never went to college and never developed the critical thinking skills necessary to differentiate propaganda from legitimate news. They except whatever bull**** Fox News feeds them or whatever right wing crap they get in their email as the gods honest truth.

They were fooled into voting for Ronald Reagan and still haven't gotten the memo that Trickle Down Economics isn't a thing. They are convinced that welfare is for poor minorities despite the fact that they need it more than anybody. It took me three years to convince my mother to try Obamacare. I knew she would qualify for a subsidy that could save her thousands, but her ****ty right wing relatives convinced her that it was bad insurance, with death panels and that she was leeching off of everybody else.

My mom said she didn't like Donald Trump, but voted for him anyway because she's been convinced that liberals are all baby murderers. She has no idea that her own niece was raped and needed to have an abortion because her niece is afraid to tell anybody else in the family about it. Since Trump's election my mom's sister has stopped coming around because she doesn't want listen to the right wing nuts in her family ignorantly calling her daughter a murderer. My mother has no idea why she doesn't talk to her anymore.

There are plenty of good baby boomers in the world I have no doubt, but there are a lot of incredibly ignorant and arrogant boomers out there who elected this disgusting president, and if they can't be made to understand the damage that their doing to their children's generation then that makes them a threat to our future. I don't care if you don't like hearing that, because it's the truth.

Thank you for making my point.

No, there is no relationship between migrants illegally coming into the country and sucking our resources to German Jews who were not criminals and were not migrants. They were German citizens. Virtually every country in the world imprisons illegal immigrants - horrific prisons. But NEVER, NOT ONCE, have you condemned one of those countries - because YOUR think it is enlightened only to attack US. Again, you make my point.

Everything this country has - FOR YOU - more wealthy, leisure and freedom than 99+% of people ever lived could even dream of having - came from the generations before us - that you call "evil." Perfect ingratitude like a spoiled brat. You think you are just entitled to having more than most people in the world because of? You're so ethically enlightened everyone on earth and the universe owes you?

But, ok, other than cursing the USA and the older generation, tell us all the great things for the country and the world superior you has done? Name anything. Prove your messages are more than just spoiled, whining self pity blowhard words in the duty to spit at our society and country.

My father went into the Army-Air Force at 18 in 1944 and ended as a crew member on a B17. They were shot down in the mountains on their 13th mission over Czechoslovakia. He spent two weeks on the ground being hidden by partisans before they arranged to turn themselves in to get badly needed medical care for a seriously burned crewmate.

For the rest of 1944 and several months in 1945, he was confined in German prison camps often not being fed. In the Spring of 45, the Germans without warning abandoned the camp and he was freed only to be almost killed by his own men on the way to reunite with American troops.

At his age - I know what I was doing - and it was NOT fighting to stop Adolf Hitler.

This current generation of young people should be called "The Self Entitled Generation," although by polling most want it to be "the generation that destroyed evil capitalism."

No, actually it's more like can I afford to go to college? Will I have to spend the next 30 years paying off student loan debt just to get a job in the middle class? How am I going to afford to save for retirement or a down payment on a home when I'm making $60k per year and still living paycheck to paycheck because of student loan debt.

Or maybe it's more like... will my friends in the military come back from Iraq? Remember that war we're still fighting a full 18 years after 9/11 There are not children who were born after 9/11 that are old enough to serve in the military.

Or maybe it's more like... should I even have children at this point? Climate change is destroying our planet who knows what they'll have to deal with. What happens if I have a daughter and Roe vs Wade gets overturned. They can't afford to have children as it is. When you look at the dark path our country is on today. The sky rocketing national debt. The Climate. The poor education system. The incredibly expensive health care system. The radical income inequality. The decision to bring a child into this world becomes much much harder than ever before.

This current generation of young people should be called "The Self Entitled Generation," although by polling most want it to be "the generation that destroyed evil capitalism."

Entitlement is spending three decades racking up debt for you children to pay off, and then complaining about Obama's deficits while we're in a state of emergency and thousands of young people are leaving college with a mountain of debt and no job prospects. Only to then go right back to racking up debt the second you get another baby boomer in there to give you tax cuts you didn't need.

Wow!!!!! Go read a history book buddy. The Jews were absolutely migrants. Not all of them, but many of them were coming to Europe at the time to escape persecution in the middle east. Laws were absolutely passed specifically criminalizing much of their day to day lives.

At his age - I know what I was doing - and it was NOT fighting to stop Adolf Hitler.

Particularly before fighter escort could make it all the way to Germany and back, the casualty rates for bomber crews was astronomical. The Brits did so at night for this reason. It seems our strategy was about attrition in extremely sacrificial ways. We knew our industrial base - combined with the Brits and Russia - and certainly available manpower - allowed up to mass overwhelm Germany regardless of who had higher kill rates. Your father knew how dangerous each mission was. He is lucky to come out alive - and lucky the Germans didn't treat American POWs they way they did Russians - or the way the Japanese did.

Or think of the Doolittle raid. An almost suicide mission for them all - all volunteers. Knowing they can't fly back. Maybe, just maybe, could make it China - and then, somehow get back. A few did. Those captures all executed and likely horrifically tortured first.

While the tactics, battle history and evolution of the machines of war all is very interesting - WW2 a unique moment in history - never before, never again - what is so astonishing is the acts of heroism by individual soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines - plus the Merchant Marine (did you know THE highest death rate of was the Merchant Marines). A line from the movie "The Bridge Over Tok0-rei" - about an pilot in the Korean war:

"Where do we get such men?" They truly gave their all - and knowing they were doing so - for duty and love of country.

What a bunch of crap. How many sick Jewish immigrant children were taken to the emergency room all Germans went to. Your comparison isn't just false, it is as damnable a lie as possible.

But you just keep searching for any way to spit on the USA and calling Americans Nazis. Forward a copy of your messages to Kim Jung Un. Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll send you an autographed poster of him for you to put on your wall. Become a Democrat hero.

Every generation of Americans had it FAR tougher than you - but cry and rant of how terrible your life is. You can travel to China. Maybe get one of those great assembly line jobs there among the 15 and 16 years olds, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Every week. Work fast enough and you can get $1.50 an hour - maybe - minus deductions. Then you'd be happy.

You asked if you should have children. I say no, please don't.

It isn't about what is owed, it's about what entitlement is and what investment is. Our parents generation got a free high school education and at the age of 18 easily walked into a standard issue 40 hour per week job that put them into the upper middle class. The current generation has to go to school for at least an extra 4 years to get the same type of job, and they have to pay for that education themselves.

It's not entitlement to want the same opportunity your parents had. If society is advancing then opportunities should be better not worse. If baby boomers improved our country their children would be better off than them not worse.

Entitlement is a generation of Americans ruining the planet and their countries finances for their children and then getting mad at their kids for calling them out on that bull****.

Of course I read it, but with evidently a more open mind as to what it said without being triggered with mock sensitivity to imagined slights by things unsaid.

Remind us which president has become best buddies with Kim Jung Un, Vladimir Putin, and every other totalitarian dictator in the world? That would be your boy Trump not Obama, not Hillary, not Bernie.

Maybe you should focus your anger on your draft dodging president.

You know the one who attacks war heros and gold Star families...

OK, you confirm your messages are racist for sure.

They were the most decorated aircrew of the war. And you say "**** them, what about black airmen!"

Yeah, your message is racist.
