May the sacrifices some day bring peace.

For the Sons and Daughters of Gallipoli

Would those be the children of folks who fought there? If so, are there DP members old enough to be, well, that old?

Were Dad alive, he'd be 100. My grandfathers fought in WWI, though not at Gallipoli.

Interestingly enough, Momma and Dad's acquaintanceship and subsequent romance was spurred in part as a result of my grandfathers having served in WWI under Generals Pershing and Nolan. My folks "officially" met at a mixer that was among the events several of my aunts and uncles also attended during a "Big Weekend" focused around a football game and other alumni events. Momma and Dad had previously had met in passing, but hadn't ever gotten to interact at length; however, the two families gathered for several events -- most notably a dinner social from which they, aghasting everyone, absconded -- over the course of the weekend and, well, the rest is, as they say, history.
