"Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has said that the U.S. "military and political role" in Europe is crucial to regional security
and emphasized that he does not want a Russian military base in his country.

Lukashenka, who frequently mixes praise and criticism of both the West and Belarus's giant eastern neighbor, Russia, was speaking to a group of U.S. experts and analysts
in Minsk on November 6.

"The Belarusian armed forces are capable of providing security and performing their duties much better than any other country, including the Russian Federation," Lukashenka said.

"That is why today I see no need to invite some other countries, including Russia, to the territory of Belarus, to perform our duties. That is why we are absolutely against having foreign military bases, especially military air bases," he said.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced plans to station warplanes in Belarus in 2013, but they have not been deployed and the issue remains under discussion.

In January 2018, media reports in Russia and Belarus said that a Russian Air Force regiment that Moscow had planned to station in Belarus would instead be located in Russia's western exclave of Kaliningrad.

Lukashenka told his audience that Belarus was "a European country" that is interested in "a strong and united Europe," adding that Europe today is "a major pillar of our planet." https://www.rferl.org/a/lukashenka-...arus-praises-u-s-role-in-europe/29585291.html

Re: Lukašenka : "No Need For "Russian" Military Base In Belarus, Praises U.S. Role In Europe "

Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka put the kabosh on the Russian plan since several years ago to open a base in Belarus.

Ukraine is getting severe toward Russia in that country.

Poland is putting an additional regiment at the Suwalki corridor from Belarus and Kaliningrad with Poland and the Baltic states on either side of it.

Pentagon will report in March on Poland's request to build a permanent presence in Poland. The presence could be one main base or several dispersed bases of one central facility.

The Kaliningrad enclave on the Baltic Sea has Russian weapons, coastal ballistic missiles “Ball” and “Bastion” to anti-aircraft missile systems S-400 and operational tactical complexes “Iskander-M” capable of carrying a nuclear charge and hitting targets at a distance of up to 500 kilometers. Russia just upgraded its nuclear weapons station in Kaliningrad that's 20 km from the Polish border.

“From the Polish side, we are responding to this threat by the acquisition of the “Patriot” systems.” We just need to remember that Poland has a missile defense system, which dates back to the 1960-70s. Therefore, on the one hand, this is a response to the Russian threat, and on the other, the natural removal of old weapons and their replacement with new ones,” Paweł Fleischer said.

Poland and the Baltic states are reassured by two top experts in key positions. One is Colonel retired Ray Wójcik, Director of the Warsaw office of the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and a former US military attache in Poland and the other is Wess Mitchell...

CEPA could not be prouder that our number one man was selected by the administration to serve in such an important position. Wess Mitchell is a cofounder of CEPA, and the primary mission of CEPA from its founding till today is to focus on the frontline states of NATO and anchor them ever closer in the transatlantic relationship with US helping those countries to be secure on the energy front, etc. Wess has that intrinsically built inside of him and we are just proud that he is in such a key position for the State Department; part of our Central European friends, of course, know that and they have a high regard for CEPA because of Wess Mitchell and now they feel like they have a friend working in the State Department in this very important position.

" Lukašenka : We Will Hand Out 7 Million Machine Guns, Assault Rifles To Every Adult Belarusian, If War Comes, God Forbid"
New samples of weapons were demonstrated there. According to Radio Liberty, this was also reported in the program News 24 years on the STB TV-channel.

While examining the weaponry innovations, Lukašenka expressed an opinion that all adult citizens of Belarus should know how to use weapons.

''As I once said, no kidding, if we have enough shooting weapons, like assault rifles, pistols, machine guns, and ammunition thereof - then, if the war comes, God forbid, we will arm every family. Everyone will protect our territories (let's take way little kids though). Old men, even women - 7 million people, those 7 million people will receive weapons so they could protect themselves,'' Lukašenka said." https://charter97.org/en/news/2018/10/11/308637/
