Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin Space Systems has received a $32 million modification to an existing contract for Advanced Extremely High Frequency Satellite Vehicle 4.

The modification, announced Friday by the Department of Defense, provides for SV 4 operational resiliency phase one of the AEHF. Work will be performed in Sunnyvale, Calif., and is projected to be finished by January 2021.
============================================
These advanced communications satellites will allow transmission of nuclear launch codes, broadband video from field locations & direct communications between National Command & Control & field units.

ok I'm assuming this is due to lessons learned from the Russians jamming communications in Syria

AEHF satellites work differently. First, they send multiple signals at once to improve chances of their reaching the surface. They also hop between signal bandwidths so that they can go through several lanes of unjammed frequencies and get through like a car moving between lanes to avoid stagnant traffic, explains Popular Mechanics.

These are the same tactics that will make them less vulnerable to jamming as well.
^^ interesting
