DINWIDDIE, Va. -- The Virginia State Police chased a stolen armored personnel carrier on I-95 and through downtown Richmond Tuesday night.

So, apparently a National Guard soldier took an M 577 armored vehicle for a joyride in Virginia last night; it sped through town at 40 mph before stopping some 60 miles away from the Armory.
Some of you, like myself, who are quite familiar with the venerable 577 may be thinking the following:
1. We still have 577's?
2. Whoever the tracked vehicle mechanic is for that unit needs to be commended....I can't recall a 577 hitting 40 mph without shaking itself apart, or actually making it 60 miles on a trip without breaking down.
3. Whoever took that 577 joyriding is screwed....because you know he didn't have his dispatch properly filled out and signed by the Commander.
