I am not blaming the poor. I am blaming the idiots in our government who allow families of able bodied adults to go on generations of government assistance. A hand up is appropriate....permanent handouts for able bodied adults is not.

A 15 dollar an hour minimum wage would cause a massive number of unskilled workers to lose their jobs. And it would speed up automation of those jobs.

Nope , it's backed by many sources including many US soldiers who are disgusted by the US attitude towards their complaints. It's confirmed by Afghans interviewed by UN people , western journalists etc etc.

That you cannot accept this only confirms what I stated previously.............. you live in a world of biased denial and refuse to even contemplate the above even though it's your own countrymen that have witnessed it first hand and made the complaints/ taken actions against it

Maybe, maybe not. Seattle has a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and is beating the national average. Monopsony may apply in regard to the minimum wage.

And, higher paid labor pays more in taxes, and creates more, in demand.

Higher wage pays higher tax, however many less workers at that higher wage kind of shoot down the more in taxes benefit. And Seattle does not represent the nation. Few companies are going to pay $15.00 minimum wages for no skilled jobs. it just does not make sense. That's why just the attempted movement towards a 15 minimum is driving many to automate.

Seattle is proving a monopsony component in favor of labor. A fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage is still, the minimum wage for any labor.

You don't live under Afghan rule either but are quite happy to contend that those in power aren't systematically sexually assaulting young boys and keeping them as sex slaves. You have been given all the evidence to support this charge , from numerous and various sources , and not once have you managed to actually condemn them for doing it. That's true support. True support given to those that hold children as sex slaves purely because to denounce them for it would put you in the position of having to recognize to some degree the ugly truth about who the US are working with in Afghanistan

Nope, by mandating higher pay to do a menial task (e.g. mowing a lawn, operating a cash register, washing a car or making a sandwich) fewer will elect to pay someone else (on the books) to do that for them. You also ignore the effect that a (much) higher US MW will have on outsourcing and/or automation to reduce costs of goods/services.

not only should we lose lower wage jobs, but it should also put an upward pressure on wages.

Living in Seattle is horribly expensive as it is in California. Point is no sane business in the heartland of America si going to pay $15 an hour for unskilled labor.
