Operation Eagle Claw

It's the 38th anniversary of Operation Eagle Claw, the daring attempt to rescue 52 American hostages held in Iran. The mission ended in disaster, with the loss of 8 brave Special Operators.

RIP warriors.

My father served during that mission on the logistical side in the navy, he described at as a smooth operation until the sandstorms hit, as well as poor planning by the us military over what ifs and how to overcome them. in terms of missions it was a failure, in terms of the soldiers and the ligistical support from the navy and airforce it was flawless, the let down was top brass failure to fully assess the situation and have a thorough plan for all viable scenarios, people died, aircraft were lost, it was a tragic event.
