7 dead in US military helicopter crash near Iraq border, officials say | Fox News

All seven military personnel aboard a U.S. Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter were killed Thursday in a crash in western Iraq near the Syrian border, U.S. defense officials told Fox News.

It's the first deadly aviation crash for the U.S. military in the war against ISIS in Iraq and Syria since American involvement began in 2014. But U.S. Central Command said in a statement the crash "does not appear to be a result of enemy activity."

Bless their families.

RIP. My deep condolences to these military families.

Geez, probably the Russians did it.

Given the sad state of repair of our equipment and the poor leadership of our officer corps it is important that we get told why this happened.

USMC F-18 crashed on final to Navy Key West yesterday, killing both crew members. RIP

Who knows why, but clearly a mechanical failure of some sort. John Bolton or Hillary Clinton might blame the Russians and hacking for it....

Everything bad that happens in this world is the fault of the Russians, according to some.....

 Nothing bad in this world is ever the fault of Russia.... according to some

And every disaster is an opportunity, according to some people.

Two USAF SOF's lost their lives; both were from NYC and both were members of the FDNY. Sad event indeed. USAF facilities are flying their flags at half-staff.

I see now that they were with the 308th Rescue Squadron.

These things we do that others may live.

I was in a sister unit back in the day, a combat medic myself.

"... that others may live." That credo still surfaces in everything I do, every day of my life.

May they rest in peace, may God bless their families, and may God continue to bless this nation with men like these that put their life on the line each day, that others may live.

I have the utmost respect for the Pararescue teams.....I spent 23 years as a Combat Medic.
