The new threat to american security - russian submarine drone that carry a big nuclear bomb.

As it became known from the leaked data of Pentagon's Nuclear Posture Review the Russians created a submarine drone, capable of carrying a nuclear bomb of up to 100 megatons.

In the event of war with the United States the boat can carry the nuclear weapon to the American cost and undermine it. The explosion of a nuclear charge of such power will cause a huge tsunami, capable to destroy of large areas of the coastal America, including cities. This will leade to a global catastrophe in the country.

Lots of superpower countries have Armageddon weapons to be unleashed in the event of war.
Having them causes me no loss of sleep.
I don't even worry too much about them even using them.
What happens happens.

Of course, if they did this, Russia would also be committing suicide.
The US would not the the only ones throwing nukes at them.

By the way, I first heard about this awful idea from the Russian politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a State Duma deputy and presidential candidate, for whom about 4% of voters are ready to vote, according to polls.

It was several years ago and I don’t know for sure whether this was an invention of a half-crazy politician or he simply voiced the project being allready developed.

The Russian Status-6 underwater unmanned vehicle (UUV) is not a new idea. If it exists its lineage can be traced to the 1950's and the development of long-range, nuclear-armed torpedoes like the T-15 and the T-5. First news of the Status-6 UUV was allegedly leaked by the Russians themselves in 2015. The veracity of the reports have been questioned by Western naval warfare experts so some cautious scepticism might be in order. This could be a real threat or it could be a release of information about a contested weapon system ploy to drum up support for the very expensive up-grade of US nuclear forces which has been proposed and is being heavily promoted by the present US executive. The new Russia, UUV is said to have a range of about 10,000 km, a speed which is unknown but very fast, special stealth capabilities and a warhead capable of caring bombs with yields in the tens of megatons, reportedly up to about 100 megatons of explosive power equivalence.

1, 100Megatonne is huge. Larger than humanity has yet built.

2, If it was to be exploded on the sea bed it would result in a very slight earthquake. No tsunami.

Lots of experiments have been done on the effects of explosions above and below water. The result is that unless you are close to it the blast does very little. the energy involved in a natural earthquake is massively more than the energy of a nuke.
