You [conveniently] forgot to mention that in May 1944, Stalin deported the indigenous people of Crimea - the Tatar people - to places such as Uzbekistan. 240,000 people stuffed in boxcars and shipped like animals. Thousands died in transport. Stalin replaced this ethnically cleansed people of Crimea with ethnic Russians. The Tatar people could only begin returning to Crimea after Ukraine became independent in 1991. Crimea has been Ukrainian territory since 1954 -- 63 consecutive years.
