War For Profit?

I have, and it is once again similar nonsense.

"Oh we do not know, therefore it is possible". That is typical CT doublespeak, and it is lame at the best.

Oh, we do not know if Donald Trump poisoned Hillary Clinton and sent alien brain signals to have her throw the election, we have not seen al the proof yet.

Typical "throwing out the claim while trying to appear reasonable", typically a fence sitter CT, or somebody who wants to be taken at least somewhat seriously. Myself, I only deal in cold hard facts. The minute anybody gives the whine "I do not know if...", all I hear is "I am throwing around bushels of bull**** because I have no proof for my bat**** crazy nonsense".

Heck, I do not know if you had any involvement in the plot to assassinate Hitler. But I am keeping my mind open unless I see absolute proof that you were never involved in any way.

Oozlefinch:

Your hyperbole and exaggeration have been noted and are unpersuasive. I disagree with you. There is evidence of funding by the CIA going to the Hekmatyar Group at the time when a nascent al-Qaeda was training in a camp provided to them by Hekmatyar. While that coincidence is not enough to prove a connection between the CIA and al-Qaeda's formation it is reasonable grounds for the suspicion that this might be the case. The fact that you don't agree with my suspicion is fine but that does not remove my suspicion. So despite your vigorous objections, I will still keep an open mind with regards to the topic. You can run about and shout CT and faulty logic until your blue in the face but your argument has not disarmed my suspicions because you have provided no reasonable explanation to explain the coincidence of direct CIA funding to the Hekmatyar Group and the coincident use by al-Qaeda of a "base" provided to them by the Hekmatyar Group. You have also not dealt with the accusations of former British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook who publicly stated in the British Parliament that the al-Qaeda organization was a product of Western intelligence organizations. This coincidence and this declaration before the British Parliament by the late Foreign Secretary is sufficient grounds for me to have suspicions despite your zealous objections. I have lived my life without your approval and no doubt I will soldier on despite your scepticism and objections. We shall just have to agree to disagree rather than beating this dead horse some more and further hijacking this thread from the OP's original topic. If that is too much for you to bear then start a separate thread and we can thump the horse some more, but to what useful end?

Cheers.
Evilroddy.

Can't help but recall The Downing Street Memo and its meaning....

Yea, the US sent them money and supplies, most of the time through Pakistan. That was during the time that the US did not fund the groups directly, but gave the money to Pakistan and let them distribute the funds. Specifically early in the war, until around 1985. And Pakistan did indeed primarily fund Hezb-e Islami (which for some reason you insist on calling by the name of the leader.

During that time a famous Democratic Congressman got involved, and helped push through more direct funding of the groups. And many of the issues of Hezb-e Islami led the US to pulling almost all funding and support, and instead shifting to supporting the various groups in the North, including Ahmad Shah Massoud, Mohammad Mohaqiq, and others. AQ did not even exist until the last part of the war.

That is like saying that the US gave supplies to Ho Chi Minh, therefore the US Government funded the Viet-Cong. You throw out bits and pieces, with absolutely no real information or even a cohesive timeline. And you insist on using fabricated names to make it all seem even more shadowy.

Sorry, I am done. But please keep the CT junk in the proper place, and this is not it. And I am sure that if I give an exact timeline involving all payments over that 10 year war, and show the difference before and after the CIA distributed directly rather than going through Pakistan, you would not care. You would still scream shadow wars and puppetmasters.
