Trans cadets at military academies can graduate but not serve...

It's common sense that if you can do your job and follow orders (the two things that matter most in the military), you should be allowed to serve.

There is no right to join the military. The service should be permitted to set whatever rules they feel are necessary for good order and discipline in the ranks.

As far as I'm concerned, if you are transgender, either something is wrong with your hardware, which is a legitimate reason to deny you for military service, or your software which is a legitimate reason to deny someone entrance to the service

And these people were allowed to finish and graduate, they have a world class education debt free. They are not victims here

The pay may be **** but your forgetting the free college and the free health care, plus numerous other benefits. I can attest from personal experience that is a major motivation in driving many people to enlist.

Oh yes, because those people that risk/ed their very lives shouldn't be educated right? Not to mention at best you'll get up to an undergrad worth of education from the military unless you get one of their loan programs...which as the name suggests, they have to pay back. Paying for College

And healthcare benefits? You're complaining that they get health care benefits? When many of them come back broken? Not to mention VA benefits suck and you can pretty much always get better in the private sector. Which the government won't pay for.

Where the **** was I complaining.

I was pointing out that while Snakebite is overemphasizing that point as though it's the only motivation, a very large number of people serve primarily because of the benefits, namely the college bit. College is expensive as hell and anyway you can get to lower the price is worth taking to some people.

And yeah, we lose people because the pay is ****. Our rate of pay hasn't kept up with inflation lately, and coupled with some other bull****, is a primary reason why retention is so freaking low. In our company of 70+ junior enlisted, I'm one of a handful of people actually re-enlisting.

I can't attest to the Navy, USMC or chair force, but the army is hemorrhaging soldiers right now. This is not the time for us to be picky.

Their gender is irrelevant when it comes to what actually matters in the military, which is job performance. I don't give a **** if they're trans, bi, gay, pan, demi, whatever; as long as they can do their job and keep up that's all that matters in the end.

And can do **** all with it. The army needs quality leadership right now.

Agreed! I am in AIT right now and the vast (over 85%) of people said they joined up so they could finance their schooling.
