I Built My Own Copy of Iran?s Faux Stealth Fighter | War Is Boring

A true LOL fabrication.

“The size of the plane is weird,” he confirmed. “The cockpit seems to be too small, to such an extent a normal pilot doesn’t properly fit in the ejection seat. Have you ever seen a pilot with his knees above the side borders of the cockpit and his helmet well beyond the ejection seat’s head pad?”

Although the Spartan cockpit is just vaguely sketched in, the minuscule pilot figure is missing his lower legs. “The [cockpit’s] front panel lacks the typical wiring, while it features few instruments of a type you expect to find on small private planes,” Cenciotti said. “Some readers have noticed the airspeed indicator is limited to 300 miles per hour.”

The jet engine’s exhaust duct is so small I almost mistook it for a tire. “The engine exhaust is missing any kind of nozzle,” Cenciotti commented. “The use of afterburner—or, simply, the engine temperature—would possibly melt the entire structure of the jet.”

Splendid.

And therefore what? That somebody in Iran's dual-track government lied?

Marvelous.

That doesn't mean Iran isn't a threat.

Iran's leadership's official position is that Israel should be "removed from the map".

Saudi Arabia, for decades considered a faithful U.S. ally:

is bitter enemy of Iran's.

Iran is quick to foment trouble in the Strait of Hormuz, recently capturing two U.S. military vessels.
Except that instead of holding their captives for 444 days as Iran did during the Carter administration, the U.S. military captives in this case were returned to the Obama administration in about one day, reportedly well cared for during their brief captivity.

What does any of that have to do with "Iran’s Faux Stealth Fighter"?

It's the context for the following:

The U.S. has deployed numerous models of drone (remote pilot) aircraft, including a stealth model we flew over Iran.

As astounding as it may seem, we operated this stealth drone in Iranian air space, with remote control input that was reportedly not encrypted.

All the Iranians had to do to capture our drone was to broadcast a stronger signal to it than we did.

They did.

It succeeded.

Iran captured it. It would have been an absolute bonanza of intelligence insight, catapulting Iran perhaps decades ahead in military / stealth technology, compared to where they would otherwise be.

So you tell me. Was Iran's capture of the U.S. stealth drone because Iran is so smart? Or because the U.S. was so stupid?
