Veteran's organization have requested meetings with Trump several times and received no response. Finally he responds and invites a billionaire to help address and resolve Veteran's issues. Trump did not invite VA Sec. Shulkin and then the meeting he announced never happened.

This swamp draining is pissing off a lot of veterans. **** the Vets, right? America first my pink veteran ass!

Before taking off for another long weekend of playing golf with his billionaire cabinet members and the paying members of his private golf club, Trump squeezed in a press conference with recently confirmed Veterans Administration Secretary David Shulkin. Trump was touting a return to Mar-A-Lago, saying he was hosting a big meeting at his “Southern White House” to tackle veteran’s issues with billionaire Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment. One problem. He turned to the man in charge of Veterans Affairs and said, “So, are you going to be at that meeting?” Shulkin shakes his head no. No, the man in charge of Veterans Affairs apparently did not make the cut for the billionaire gathering at Mar-A-Lago to discuss Veterans Affairs. Awkward!

There are many sources. Here's the source for the above quote.

He didn't know his recently appointed top man wasn't going to be there. Nothing surprises anymore.

Which part makes you think he wasn't invited? He asked, "So, are you going to be at that meeting?", Shulkin shook his head no, then Trump asked, "You heard about it, right? " to which Shulkin shook his head yes.

So, he was invited, but wasn't going for some reason.

Ah, no. There was no "major meeting" concerning veteran's issues. No veterans were invited, the Sec. of Veterans Affairs wasn't going because there was no scheduled meeting. The bottom line is that Trump isn't just ****ing over and pissing off the heads of state who are America's allies, he continues to **** over and piss off Americans, in this case veterans. All this while he seems hell bent on running up the war flag.

And the last thing veterans need is another billionaire with no military experience involved in veterans issues. To steal a phrase - "Nothing about us without us".

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

No veterans were invited, the Sec. of Veterans Affairs wasn't going because there was no scheduled meeting.

So Shulkin was lying when he said he heard about the meeting (because there really wasn't one)?

Yes apparently. There was obviously something going on there. Once again President Cluster**** getting it all wrong. Shulkin being the only adult in the room had to be diplomatic to cover for Trump. Everyone who works around Trump is forced to lie. That is SOP.

Then I would like to see the evidence for Shulkin lying. Because, as it stands, a heavily biased commentary from the DailyKos on a video edited in a convenient spot doesn't support the idea that Shulkin wasn't invited in the first place. Quite to the contrary, watching the half-second of video beyond the clipped quote suggests Shulkin was the one who decided not to go, not the other way around.

In order to defend Trump, the Trumpeteers must pretend that words do not mean what words obviously mean.

When Trump says he grabs ******s, it does not mean that he grabs ******s. When Trump says he is going to make Mexico pay for a wall, it does not mean that he will make Mexico pay for a wall. When Trump says he is being wiretapped, it does not mean that he is being wiretapped. And now, hearing about something means you were invited to attend

Yay, I have been invited to the Oscars!!!!

I'm not defending Trump.

I'm just calling out the DailyKos for editing toward an agenda. In other words, lying.

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

Now we're being told there really was one between Trump and the Marvel billionaire guy and the sec of commerce. No veterans, no Skulkin. Private meeting. "It was a beautiful meeting. Exciting things announced soon." Standard bull**** while alienating the very people he purports to care about.

Im a member of a couple of vet organization. I don't seem to be alone in my disgust.

OK. Go review other sites. There are other as I stated in the OP.

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

Yes you are. Read the title of the thread

Blasting the FailyKos and defending Trump are not the same things. Perhaps you should read the thread title. Shulkin not invited.... even though he said he was told about it but otherwise is not going for unspecified reasons.

Where is the smoking gun that he was told not to go? Where is the quote from Shulkin where he says "I was not invited"? Where is the department insider that said, off the record, that Shulkin was cut out of the process?

Good luck finding it.

All the sites carrying this line are liberal leaning blog spots.

You might as well get the story from Breihtbart, if objectivity and truth aren't important to you.

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

In your case, they are the same thing

Defending DailyKos is no better than defending Breitbart. Is that where we are now? Why are you defending a Breitbart-like organization?

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

No, we are at the place where you are trying to defend Trump and failing

If seeking the truth looks like defending Trump, then that doesn't bode well for your position.

Why are you defending the DailyKos?

OK, then the your opposing opinion is that Daily Kos, the New York Times, the Hill and others are lying because Breitbart and Fox are avoiding it like mad. That's fine. I don't expect Brietbart and Fox to question Trump's actions. You are seemingly attempting to divert the subject of the OP.

It sounds as if you are good with Trump screwing over veterans. I can live with your opposition. I hope you like whatever VA healthcare you get. Sounds to me as if you will take whatever Trump and Wall Street decide you'll get. Sounds to me you don't care about being represented by veterans from vet groups. Good for you.

Most veterans don't want private healthcare. Some in rural areas do and I understand that. But most veterans don't want it. Most vets who use the VA will tell you that it isn't so much the quality of care but rather the gawdawful scheduling and wait times. The physicians and medical staff are very good in my experience (except for two that I know of).

As it seems your boy Trump is moving ahead without us, making plans without us being deeply involved and without even the Sec of VA involved. Instead he has involved the Sec of Commerce and a billionaire from Marvel. Lovely, I'm certain that if there is one thing all Trump's billionaires know about it is VA wait times and scheduling.

Trump hasn't listened to his constituents. He listens to Wall Street and he acts accordingly. We have seen him do it time and again. Now he is doing it to vets and shoving it in our faces by not even involving the Sec. of the VA. Not that I am overly confident in Skulkin but he hasn't had a shot at it yet AND he's already being marginalized by Trump.

If seeking the truth looks like defending Trump

Seeking the truth does not look like what you posted.

Hearing about a meeting is not the same as being invited to it

Re: Trump Touts Meeting to Address VA Issues, Sec. of VA not invited. Meeting No Go.

OK, then the your opposing opinion is that Daily Kos, the New York Times, the Hill

Full stop.

I don't see the story carried in the New York Times and The Hill. I googled "New York Times Shulkin" and "New York Times Shulkin not invited" and the last mention of Shulkin was in February. Same with The Hill.

...and others...

Like Palm Report. And Boing Boing.

...Military Times? Oh, wait, the Military Times reported about the meeting Friday with Trump, Pence, Shulkin, and "top officials from 10 veterans groups". Trump meets with veteran leaders, promises VA reforms

But you want to talk about the non-story of the non-meeting the next day that Shulkin wasn't not-invited to.

Like the truth about the meeting between Trump, Pence, Shulkin, and top officials from 10 veterans organizations on Friday? And saying you're not going isn't the same as being not invited.

Why are you defending the DailyKos?

We may never know but it would not surprise me that Skulkin heard about the VA meeting only moments before. Then Trump casually asks him if he is going? And then asks if he knew about the meeting. What could Skulkin say, "Yeah, the bastards told me about it an hour ago but, yeah, I know about your meeting. Why would you plan a meeting about the VA and not discuss it and an agenda and my schedule with me before hand, you moron? Or is it you forgot or that you never intended for me to go? And why would you continue with the meeting I can't attend and wasn't informed of under just a while ago? And where are the heads of the American Legion and the DAV, why aren't they going? But, yeah, since you are casually asking me in front of the press if I know about your goddam meeting, I'll say yes, but under the circumstances there's no way in hell I am going."

That is exactly correct. The meeting in Florida that included the Sec of Commerce and the Marvel billionaire where the VA was discussed and where Skulking and no Vet reps were invited.

Again though, there is ZERO evidence that Shulkin was not invited to the Saturday meeting - he did, in fact, hear about the meeting and simply said he was not going and provided nothing more than that - and he was definitely at the FRIDAY meeting which sounds like the official meeting.

So where is the evidence? And the problem? What major news outlets are carrying this non-story?
