He and his comrades in online vigilance have been gathering intelligence and making counterstrikes, tracking the members of illicit groups, including Marines United, as they try to hide, and stripping away the anonymity that has allowed the group to thrive. They are also feeding information back to Marine Corps investigators.

“The Marines’ response is to be careful and slow, but the people they are after move very fast,” Mr. LaPorta said. “If you want to catch them, you have to move at their speed.”

Indeed, Marine Corps leaders have resorted to traditional moves, commissioning a task force and mounting a meticulous investigation. But the commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Robert B. Neller, frankly admitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that the nude-photo scandal was a cultural problem he was ill-prepared to address.

“There is a risk I cannot protect people on social media,” General Neller said.

For several years, the Marine Corps has known of web pages where Marines shared racist and sexist memes, as well as photos of female Marines posted without their consent. Despite a number of public reports, the Corps has failed to crack down on the sites.
Those trying to identify and **** these sites down have been threatened with violence
Those member still serving are in a world of hurt.
Why is action by the Marine Corps so slow?
They have had evidence of this for years.
850 approx serving and reserves have been identified. What is the problem here? Is it leadership failing??

Poor Leadership and Fear don't smell good together.

Myself, I largely shrug to be honest.

The snowflakes of this generation do not get much from me in this area.

The vast majority of these photos were either taken by the female herself, or taken with her knowledge. Several reports I read went something like "I sent a photo to Lance Corporal Smith, and he then sent it to 3 other guys in his squad". Well, this all goes back to taking responsibility for your own actions.

We have seen things like this for 20 years now, since webcams and digital cameras became common. Person A takes a picture or sends a video, Person B then spreads it around on Grockster, or eMule, or now Facebook. The best solution I can think of is to simply not send out nude pictures of yourself. Or to not allow your 1 night stand to film your act together.

There, problem solved. And if some scumbucket does secretly film you, bring it up to legal authority and have them prosecuted for violating your privacy.

When I was in PATRIOT school 10 years ago, there was word that one of the AIT recruits was giving let's say oral pleasure behind the barracks. And she was also sharing nudes with perspective friends. There were 3 or 4 videos of her in action at night behind the barracks with different guys. In other words, she was being a whore. Multiple guys were sharing her pics and vids in a school setting, where they were tightly watched.

And there are multiple web sites dedicated to such pics of women in uniform. Just as there are to ex-girlfriends or anything else.

Take responsibility for your own actions. Do not take or allow nudes of yourself to be taken. Then you will never be shamed because somebody shared it.
