Friendly fire is "treachery"?

It can be. Accidental friendly fire is one thing, intentional friendly fire quite another. I suppose it depends on many factors, including political ones. Don't know if it's true, but some say Pat Tillman was starting to ask too many questions.

So, no proof of treachery....

Now Pat Tillman? Really? No such thing as a "CT Too Far" for you, eh?

Perhaps you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. Today and for the last few years, Russia and the US are not morally equal. I'm sad to say that by some degree or another, the US government is morally inferior to the Russian government. They at least go through the motions in seeking peace, whereas all we've been doing is waging war and committing military aggression.

Russia is an authoritarian government that uses state controlled media to and voter suppression laws to keep United Russia in power for all eternity.

That's just a plain fact about Russia and what its media and laws are like in the real world. It's a pretty bad start to your argument.

Accepting for the sake of argument that what you say about Russia is true, are you claiming that the US does not have a state controlled media and voter suppression?

It seems to me the western media is very much state controlled, at least corporate controlled, by corporations that work hand-in-glove with the government. But that has little to do with the moral issues, the comparative moral positions.

The US has been killing innocents with drones for the better part of 15 years now, pretending it's spreading democracy. We've overthrown governments on almost all continents, and generated hundreds of thousands of refugees with our bombing Syria and other places.

I can't see that Russia has done anything like that. Maybe you can enlighten me?

... what they've been doing in Aleppo alongside the definitely-not-a-dictator-definitely-didn't-use-chemical-on-civilians-definitely-legit-president-4-life Assad would stand as an example.

Your entire perception of geopolitics seemed to be based on granting Russia a huge moral handicap for no real reason. Some cultures/countries/groups of people are just inferior to others.

Russia doesn't have Amnesty International, Reporters without Borders, the American Civil Liberties Union, or any groups that have the power to question or challenge anything the government does.

So true.

Looks like the thoughts of a liberal who believes they have moral superiority, and the right to be authoritarian over sovereign nations.

What Russia has been doing in Syria is at the request of the Syrian government. It was announced at the UN by Putin, and he followed through on his promise to support the only legitimately elected government in Syria.

Unlike the US, which has been bombing the Syrian infrastructure for years before, even as ISIS flourished. All those refugees flooding Europe were mostly created by US/Israeli actions.

Amnesty International (note the last word), ACLU and other such groups OPPOSE the illegal and immoral actions of the US government. Not exactly relevant, but that's why I support both groups. They oppose the unconstitutional and immoral actions of the federal government.

Russia is no angel, but they have not destroyed legitimately elected governments and cultures and societies as the US and NATO have done in Serbia, Libya, and many other places.
