We stiil have naval superiority over ISIS - we are stlll on pace to defeat ISIS by 2050. ;)

What matters is that the GWOT be waged. In perpetuity, it appears.

The Navy is a wreck. All of the services are in bad shape post Obama, but I suspect that the Navy is the worst.

Fixing the military has to go at the top of the Trump Priority List.

I dont think Trump knows this yet.

I am reminded of that Gore Vidal quote.

You can't have a war on a concept.

"terrorism" will exist forever on the globe. Always has, always will.

Francis Marion was considered a terrorist by the Brits.
John Mosby was considered a terrorist by the Yankees, then made an ambassador by Grant.
Bloody Bill Anderson WAS a terrorist by any standard.
The Israeli URGUN were considered terrorist by the Brits, then it became the Israeli Army, and one of its leaders became PM.
In antiquity the Sunni majority considered the Shiite assassins on their mountain top terrorists.

Pick any time in history and you will see one side calling the other "terrorists", in some form or another.
It is how a smaller force can keep a larger force occupied and busy through attrition.

So having a perpetual never ending WAR on this concept guarantees a blooded military with combat experience.

This was one of the reasons Queen Victoria had so many little bush wars the world over.

Then when you REALLY need them, you have some experienced troops who have "seen the elephant".

Hm.

Maybe it's just cranky. Have we spent a lot of time and money studying what gender pronoun ships would like to be called? Maybe if we stopped aggressively gendering them, they would work better?


That sounds idiotic and like it would definitely reduce our ability to invest in combat capability; it should become one of the Pentagons' top 5 priorities.
