‘They put us through hell’: A Marine abused at boot camp explains why he spoke out

Re: ‘They put us through hell’: A Marine abused at boot camp explains why he spoke ou

I love how former trainees are showing up in this thread to justify this kind of violence, like they've been around the block. Do you even know the difference between training and abuse? Because there are defined guidelines. Your comments make me doubt if your story is even real.

There are psychopaths that make their way into every branch of service and these reports are how we weed them out.

The hardest, most disciplined troops in the world aren't your pansies. So, no. I do not agree.

I was abused. I was surely mistreated and beaten and it wasn't FAIR. And that's what the Marines teach. Battle isn't fair. War isn't a cakewalk. No one in a firefight is going to be nice to you. And that's what the Marines train you to expect.

If you want someone to be nice to you and respectful and to kiss your butt, then don't join the U.S. Marines. Surely you can find a spot in one of the other branches where they don't starve you or hit you or yell at you or prepare you for battle. And that's where you'd belong. In a place where you can feel comfortable at a desk while the Marines go out and do the fighting.

You aren't, nor have you ever been in the service.

I didn't like it. I'm not a sociopath. I HATED Parris Island. I kicked myself in the ass every day for even joining that crap. If I had it to do over, there's no way in hell I'd join the Marines again.

But it made me hard. I understand why the Marines do what they do. I understand why America can kick anyone's ass as long as they have a US Marine Corps. Because the US Marines don't settle for less. They don't allow pansies or fatbodies. The Marines are the epitome of America.

The question was for apdst. I suggest you go back and read my previous post. You will find that we probably agree.

Oh yeah. You obviously don't know the difference between training and abuse. Depriving a troop of food does nothing to teach him how to survive on the battlefield.

Judging from my post, what do you think?

I think that you think that you disagree. I think that you didn't read my post. I think that you need to go back and read my post. I think that you won't go back and read my post and that you will continue to post garbage. I think that if you do go back and read my previous post and you realize that you ****ed up you won't apologize and you will just wish the whole thing will go away.

Now again, do you agree with my previous post or do you disagree?

I've been a week without food. It's perhaps abuse. But there is training value to it. Everything that doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

You never joined the Corps, anyway.

Now, I know you're lying. A week? Bull****!

The Rangers do it. Why is it so unbelievable that Marines do it?

Rangers don't do it, either. Hell! SF doesn't do it...lol! Why? Because you would be unable to function after 4 days. That's why.

Starvation definitely takes effect in four days. It hurts worse than just being hungry. And at Ranger school, yes, they do it too.

Or...maybe...I was simply supplementing your post. I don't have time to educate you.

If abuse is taking place at Marine Boot Camp then we know that the chain of command under Obama has failed.

Which is likely.

I was there under Bush 1. I hear it's much more touchy feely now.

Ok. I just made it all up.

Feel better about being a civie pogue?

9h, I know you made it all up...lol.

How do I know? Because after 3 days you stop feeling hungry. Why? Because your body is consuming itself. That's why your "it hurts worse that being hungry" comment is bull****.

After 4 days, muscular degredation is about 20% and the exertion rate of military training will cause you to lose your ability to function in such an environment. Between day 4 and day 7, at the same caloric expenditure, you'll most probably go into cardiac arrest and die. Your heart is a muscle. Remember?

It's ****ing boot camp. It's never going to be "touchy feely".

Regulation might not be reality. We know morale is in the crapper, all time lows I think I read, been going down for years and is still going down. Bad things happen eventually, that's were this train goes, every time.

How is my post, "stupid ass"? It concurs with what you said.

Again this is not relevant to actual abuse.
