Journalist Omar Jimenez had just shown a protester being arrested when Minneapolis police officers surrounded him, without giving a reason

Police in Minnesota arrested a black CNN reporter reporting live on television early on Friday morning while covering the Minneapolis protests over the death of George Floyd, and led him and three crew members away in handcuffs, in what has been criticized as a racist incident.

Black reporter Omar Jimenez had just shown a protester being arrested when about half a dozen white police officers from the Minnesota state patrol surrounded him, without giving a reason.

“We can move back to where you like,” he told the officers wearing gas masks and face shields, before explaining live on air that he and his crew were members of the press. “We’re getting out of your way.”

“This is among the state patrol unit that was advancing up the street, seeing and scattering the protesters at that point for people to clear the area. And so we walked away,” Jimenez said before being told he was under arrest and handcuffed by two officers. “Why am I under arrest, sir?”

Jimenez and the crew were later released.

First, he wasn't the only one arrested, nor were the other people black, so that puts a damper on your outrage. In addition, being a reporter does not give you the right not to 'clear the area' when told to by the police.

There is racism going on and there are bad cops out there. The problem is with people like the one who posted this thread. He posts half truths and the half he does post are heavily slanted. I'd advise people to skip his bigoted responses and research the topic. Threads like this are a disservice to those who truly experience racism. These threads are dangerous because I guarantee there are like minded people on here who will just read the clickbait and see a black man getting arrested and cry "racism". Thinking like this stokes the flames and makes things worse.

Hey! Maybe the OP is just trying to fan the flames of hatred because that's important in getting a message out.

My post was right out of The Guardian. I never try to fan the flames of hatred.

CNN reporter Omar Jimenez is a black guy? He must be one of those black-Hispanics I hear so much about. Or is he an Hispanic-black I never know which is the proper term for polite society.

Whats up with your fan the flames comments at end of your threads?

There are those who are pushing a racist agenda and do not want to see the truth out in the public eye. If you say a group of white and black protesters were arrested for defying police orders to clear the area, well that just doesn't have the same liberal slant they want.

The police have to have a reason to arrest you, so why don’t you wait for the rest of the story. Probably something like “They were lawfully ordered to move out of the way of the police advance”. Simple. Even for CNN. Plus, I doubted they arrested many black people. They usually don’t except for looters caught on video.
