I saw a poll about which government people trusted, local, state or federal

Federal was the lowest at 45%, local was like 60%, and state was like 75%.

It's a good thing our states are so powerful in America, they can pick up the slack if they need to.

I was involved in his first political outing, when he was running for the 9th (CD) back in the late 90's for Sydney Yates north suburban seat (won by Jan Shackowsky).

My God, he was seen as an absolute naive buffoon. The coalition around him was filled with political hustlers that took his money and laughed behind his back. It was pretty disgusting to see, and it was due to J.B. knowing nothing at all about politics besides that he had a lot of money and wanted to be in the game. The rough & tough streetwise old line Chi-town operators opportunistically saw him as a naive little rich boy, and took advantage of him without ever intending to deliver the goods. Consequently, his CD run was an abysmal failure.

I left that scene and the whole game immediately after and never gave J.B. a second thought, figuring he got used & abused and would simply disappear from the annals of political history.

Wow, was I wrong! Yeah, he learned, and eventually he succeeded. And he seems to be doing a great job. It's amazing the growth he's had over two decades, and the change in his personality. He always seemed like a decent guy from the first day I met him, but I never imagined he would ever develop the toughness, shrewdness, and political instincts required to prevail in Chicago politics. Good for him. Now, I kinda' wish I hung around!

Well! J.B.'s looking better to me all the time!

Moments ago during his press conference, he was asked about hospital supplies like masks, etc. He shocked me by replying that their general emergency preparedness plan call for stockpiling items such as hospital supplies, which they did as usual recourse. So for now, he thinks they're good!

Huh? I was amazed. Literally, amazed.

I was especially attune with his reply, because literally minutes before was Mike Pence's reply to the same question at the just prior Trump press conference:

"I am pleased to report to the President today that HHS just placed an order for hundreds of millions of N95 masks made available to health care providers across the country," Pence said.
[unfortunately the above quote is from the CNN live-updates thread, and it has no static link]

Notice one team having preparatory stockpiled for emergency preparedness, and the other team is "proud to announce" they are "ordering" masks! Geezus Krist!

I enjoyed J.B. calling out Trump about O'Hare.

He was right too. That was FUBAR.

I believe Trump is vulnerable to gubernatorial criticism at this point. There's not much he can do if (rightly) criticized. If Trump argues back, he draws attention to the negative aspects of the disaster unfolding around him - untold numbers that cannot be denied. If he tries to belittle & attack the governors, he has to deal with the optics of screwing with people as disaster & death unfolds around them. I don't think Trump can do much to fight back, here. He's in a no-win.

Trump placed himself in a box. It's obvious he lied, stonewalled Congress, and dragged his feet about implementing coronavirus measures.

Trump is dangerous. Unless a miracle happens, I think he himself ruined whatever odds he had in November.

The self congratulatory attitude about Ďorderingí something that should have been stockpiled in January is really laughable.

Hey- I just ordered twenty flux capacitors and ten Deloreans to go bs k in time six months and prepare for this pandemic correctly! Iím doing a great job! Tremendous! Many people are saying so!
