Keystone pipeline spills more than 350,000 gallons of oil in North Dakota | TheHill

The Keystone pipeline has spilled hundreds of thousands of gallons of crude oil into North Dakota this week, The New York Times reports.

The pipeline has leaked roughly 383,000 gallons of crude oil, impacting an estimated half-acre of wetland, according to state environmental regulators.

Nothing's perfect, I gather. But if that tar sands crude oil gets into the huge aquifer under the Midwest, the social & economic impacts will be huge.

Thanks Trump. One correction, Canadian Crude Oil.

Everyone needs to remember that TC Energy (used to be TransCanada) filed suit in US courts against US property owners to get their pipeline improvement using rules of NAFTA to do so.

Let that sink in a little while the news comes in on all that crude dumped on North Dakota.

Granted this leak is the old line, the new line got its federal permit from ole Trump in 2017, after being rejected by the Obama administration the year before. But this is the reason why TC Energy, or TransCanada, or whatever they want to call themselves tomorrow cannot be trusted.

BTW, this same line dumped 407,000 gallons on South Dakota in 2017 too. Early estimates suggest 383,000 gallons this time around.

I guess maintenance is overrated.
