It seems that downstate Illinois residents are finally fed up with Chicago influencing the rest of the state.

For those who don't know, Chicago is a liberal stronghold while most of the rest of Illinois is mostly conservative with some liberals as seen in the 2016 presidential election.

Or the senatorial election

Or in the more recent gubernational

In each of those instances, a democrat won but the vast majority of counties were won by the republican.

It now seems like republicans in downstate Illinois are fed up with Chicago and are trying to exclude Cook County from the rest of the state.

This is one of those Be Careful What You Wish For cases. If they kick out Chicago, they kick out Chicago's money as well. So long Suckers!

Regurgitation of an old idea, but they may have no choice given how urban areas can dominate how a state is ran.

I am no Nostradamus, but in the coming decades, the nation, in point of fact, may see some "adjustments" to the current borders of the 50 states.

The Democrats hold the Chicago Mayorship, the Cook County Board, the Governorship and all major Illinois state offices, the state Senate, the state House, and the state Supreme Court (4:3).

Quit crying and try to win some elections.

Too bad it'll never happen. We're stuck with Crook County.

Gee.

Guess you didn’t know this has been an issue for (checks notes) the last 150 years. [emoji849]

Why not just pass a law that says anyone not republican can't vote?
