Michigan governor signs bills tp gut wage & sick time laws

What's wrong with earning your pay and benefits? And why should a company have to pay you a dime for sitting at home, not producing for the company? What is it about Democrats that they consider business owners all powerful and workers powerless? Consider this, you're a business owner and you need to hire a worker with skills who has a pleasant personality and appearance, are you going to get away with paying $9.50/hr? Of course not. Holy ****, learn some ****ing skills and you'll have leverage. Is it really that much of a struggle?

They had a right to refuse the job if the pay and benefits were not to their liking. The bigger problem is people feel entitled to make what they do not deserve because they don’t have the skills to earn pay and benefits and have an inflated view of their own worth.

This is about more than this. It is a new (correct me if I'm wrong) loophole, and it will end up biting Reps in the arse once the tables are turned. I hate when they (anyone in government, R or D) does this.

They should put skull & crossbones warning signs on the interstate highways as you enter MI. If you don't like their laws, boycott them. Same with WI.

True story. We were on our way to some town in MI, going I75. Traffic slowed to a halt. Aside from the fact that I had to pee, we patiently waited to go from the left lane to the right, as instructed by the sign. It wasn't very far from the construction site when we found out that someone had put up the wrong sign. Traffic was to merge into the left lane, not the right.

Don't really hear people referring to workers as "property" quite so openly.

Refreshing if a bit sad

And what’s amazing is they have most of those workers voting for them, because... Obama is a Kenyan Muslim communist! Mexicans are invading! Our founding fathers wanted freedom... of the jungle, and social Darwinism!

Please. How long can they keep this up?

Who the hey votes for these clowns, and why? What's in it for them?

May be those who were tired of liberal policies. I dunno. It keeps going like that, statewide and nationwide. We have this darn 2 party system. When one side ticks folks off, people turn their attention.
I so wish people would stop being partisan pawns.

It is about more than that as well. I think that political pawns are being taken for granted on both sides.

IDK.

Dopamine is a helluva drug.

But like all drugs tolerance develops.

I am not sure how far they can push it before people reach the "gag point".

Why don’t Trump supporters do that, instead of keep looking to government to artificially protect their jobs from companies that can get the same labor for cheaper abroad, or to protect their jobs in sectors that are going obsolete or becoming downright dangerous to society?

Most Trump supporters I know don't support the tariffs. And to your second point, tell how much Americans are willing to pay for what you consider to be industries dangerous to society? As much or more than the French?

Change is always difficult. It does not mean you keep clinging to the dangerous and obsolete to avoid change.

Science is unanimous in its consensus: what we have now, as comfortable as it may be, is far more dangerous in the long run than making a concerted effort to move forward. Who said truth always had to be comfortable?

So you are saying all those people cheering Trump as he walked through the Carrier plant in Indiana, threatening to penalize them if they move their jobs abroad, were not Trump supporters?

Well they're cheering because it's their jobs and when a U.S. President pays attention to your needs, most people tend to get excited.

Sure. But it has to be THEIR needs. Then they cheer it on. If it's anybody else, then it's theft and tyranny. Kinda like the "Stop socialized medicine and keep your hands off my Medicare!" placards the Tea Partiers were carrying around in 2009 while protesting the ACA. Of course Medicare is not big government and not socialism, because they are the ones benefitting. But the ACA- well that's for all those lazy brown people, and it's big government and communist tyranny.

Same thing with drugs: if drugs are effecting inner cities, that's because the people there are stupid and lazy and they should be left to suffer until they learn their lesson. But if it effects rural American, why then everyone is asking why government is not doing more to help stop the devastation.

It's just hypocrisy. It's only freedom if the laws are trying to help others. It's patriotic American though if it ends up helping them. The problem is, sometimes they are just too stupid to realize which group they belong to.

And what is it Negan said that you disagree with?

If you know ANYTHING about who Negan is or what he's done, you would never ask such a pathetically stupid question.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder on Friday signed laws to significantly scale back citizen-initiated measures to raise Michigan’s minimum wage and require paid sick leave for workers, finalizing an unprecedented Republican-backed legislative maneuver that opponents blasted as shameful.

To prevent minimum wage and earned sick time initiatives from going to voters last month, GOP lawmakers approved them in September so they could be more easily altered after the election with simple majority votes rather than the three-fourths support that would have been needed if voters had passed the proposals.

No wonder I don't like Republicans. They're bad for your health.

We need to clear the decks of all Republicans in 2020. They're anathema to democracy.
