David Krupa is a college freshman who attends DePaul University and drives a forklift part time. He ran for alderman of the 13th ward. But his young age isn't the most impressive thing about this story.

Rather, it is the way that the political machine of the 13th ward swatted him like a bug. To get on the ballot, Krupa needed 473 valid signatures and he got 1,703. Before he could turn in his signatures, a group of political workers went around asking residents to sign affadavits, revoking their signatures. More than 2,700 revocations were turned in, more than the total amount of signatures. Revocations are serious legal documents and lying on them is perjury which is a felony.

Seems Chicago hasn't changed much. This is straight out of the 21 years Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley's political play book. It even succeeds it. For Daley, it was vote early and vote often. Even having the dead vote if necessary. But being Chicago, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

I agree that it's "problematic" that some 1000 more signature revocations were obtained than were approbational signatures given.

What strikes me as equally "problematic," to put it kindly, is the anti-Krupa folks' having solicited signature revocations from people who hadn't given an approbational signature. I mean, really....
  • How hard it is to reconcile and submit a list of revocations whereby the names of the individuals who originally signed the "okaying" documents for Krupa's candidacy corresponded to the names on the signature revocation document(s)?
  • Why the hell would one ask "Mark" to revoke a signature, an approbation, he never gave?
  • Why the hell did "Mark" agree to revoke a signature he never gave?
Yes, something is amiss over there, but I don't know precisely what it is.

Worse. From the article:

There is no litigation, yet, but election attorney Michael Dorf, who is representing Krupa, says this case is a “clown car of felonies.”...“We turned in 1,703 signatures. We compared them to the 2,796 revocations, and found only 187 matches, meaning only 187 people who signed David’s petitions filed revocations,” Dorf said. “So, what about the 2,609 people who didn’t sign for David but who filed revocations? That’s fraud. That’s perjury. That’s felony.”

Dorf said that he will ask the elections board next week to refer the matter to Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

But Foxx, a Democrat, won’t want to anger the Boss.

Neither will incoming Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, who famously said he would not “go fishing” for corruption, and who also received a million dollars in Madigan political money.

And current Illinois Attorney General, Lisa Madigan, is the Boss’ daughter.

Two things.

First, the information shows that this young candidate still has more valid signatures than needed to run for the office. Good deal despite the fraudulent effort.

Second, the current State Attorney General is the daughter of the alleged conspiracy leader. Whoops!

I hope someone follows this and lets us know how it goes, I would be interested in knowing.

It's not called "Crook County" for nothing!

And the recently elected one is a Madigan whore....just like the incoming Governor.

This state is up to it's eyeballs in corruption, and it's all centered in 2 places: Chicago and Springfield.

Nah, its mostly Chicago. They could give a damn anything below the collar counties.

Who they need to convict is the idiots that went around suborning perjury. I would bet most of the people signing didn't realize what they were signing and the people asking for the signatures weren't clear about it either.

The greater Chicago metro is run by a corrupt Democrat political machine and has been for decades, that is what is amiss.

Chicago and Detroit are probably the 2 most corrupt cities in the middle of the country.

Our foreign friends (bless their little hearts) are puzzled why Americans roll their eyes when they mention certain cities, such as those two.
