Illinois Democrats gained the Governorship and picked up two Congressional seats with the highest midterm voter turnout in 32 years.

J.B. Pritzker (D) defeated Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner in the Governor race.

Republican Congressman Randy Hultgren has conceded defeat to his Democratic challenger Lauren Underwood in the keenly anticipated and close election for Illinois’ 14th Congressional District.

Political newcomer Sean Casten (D) declared victory over incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam in the suburban 6th Congressional District turning a longtime-GOP stronghold into a critical win for Democrats.

Both of these Democrat Congressional wins occurred in ruby red Republican suburban districts.

It seems both incumbent Republican Reps. lost their seats mainly due to their vote to repeal and replace Obamacare with the horrible GOP American Health Care Act of 2017.

This should serve as ample warning to the GOP about trashing pre-existing conditions protections and cutting social safety-net programs.

Yeah..

2 of Madigan's lovers won last night. Prickster for Gov and Kwame Raoul for State AG.

IL was screwed either way.

Like I had said before

2 billionaires competing to put the rest of us in the Poor House.

The only thing that I can see good with Pritzker coming in is Rec Weed will come in sooner.

Other than that, we're still just as screwed as we were with Rauner.

As long as Madigan is around there isn't really any point commenting on State Leg.

Here in NY the Dems took over the State Senate. I'm sure most people will just shrug and say, so what? It's NY. Well since WWII the Dems have controlled the NY State senate for exactly 3 years(GOP has controlled it 72 out of 75 years if my math is correct). Upstate NY is very Republican and very conservative. But the GOP lost big time here.

Trump is toxic in NY and NJ because we know what kind of con man and POS he is, I guess even some Republicans in NY have had enough of him.

Great...potheads everywhere. It's bad enough people have to worry about drunk drivers. Now stoned drivers are a danger too.

Living in fear is no way to go through life...

This is exactly it. If Madigan continues to control the legislature, as he has done for longer than any person in the nation's history, it makes little difference who the governor is. Rauner couldn't pass a state constitutional amendment as if it were an executive order. And a constitutional amendment is what Illinois absolutely requires if it is to have any hope of not failing under the weight of its pension debt. And specifically, that constitutional amendment has to reduce what had previously been promised to public sector pensioners.
