Kansas Man Who Yelled "Get Out Of My Country" Before Killing Indian Immigrant Gets Life In Prison

Adam Purinton pleaded guilty earlier this year, admitting in open court that he targeted the victims because of their race, skin color, and national origin.

A Kansas City man who pleaded guilty to a hate crime charge for fatally shooting an Indian man in 2017 was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to police, Adam Purinton opened fire inside a bar packed with people watching a University of Kansas basketball game. Srinivas Kuchibhotla was killed and two other men, Alok Madasani and Ian Grillot, were injured.

One witness said Purinton also yelled, "Get out of my country," the Kansas City Star reported.

Another example of Trumpian xenophobia?

A mean drunk with a wasted ruined life taking his vengeance out on society is what this looks like...and knowing how to push our buttons as he did it.

But hey, anything that can even slightly plausibly be blamed on Trump gets blamed on Trump these days.

Because we suck now.

Did he say he did it because he felt that is what Trump would have wanted?

Because Trump didn't do what GW Bush did after 9/11 urging people not to take out their anger on Muslims, instead Trump made anyone who wasn`t white seem like an ``enemy``, but of course his followers will keep saying he did on such thing.

If someone I trust keeps telling me that conservatives are the root of all evil, while not directly telling me to shoot one, and then one day I have a bad day or a conservative speaks the wrong way towards me, or a conservative takes my job away from me, and I am all riled up already, then remember that the person I trust told me that the root of all evil are conservatives, I might put 2+2 together and take action against a conservative, not because the person I trust told me to, but because the person I trust put the notion in my head that all conservatives are my enemy.
Of course I would have to be weak in my head in the first place to be THAT easily swayed by someone else, but as we already know, certain people, especially those who listen to a certain leader, ARE weak in the head, and therefore easily riled up.
GET IT YET?

If he did the article did not mention it. But, 🤷

Which is a flippant way of saying he does not necessarily need to have mentioned Trump for it to be an example of "Trumpian xenophobia", which itself is a bit of a misnomer. Trump tapped into what was already there and amplified it; the racists receptive to it amplified it further. (Indeed, I cannot think of another president who received so much praise from overt white supremacists). He probably also managed to introduce some of his followers to that kind of hateful thinking, but I suspect those would be in the minority.

I think we can generally say that violent rhetoric has a tendency to evoke violent behavior in people who are already receptive to that rhetoric, even if we can't in one case prove that the bad actor did what he did because and only because of a specific person's violent rhetoric. Did this guy do it because he thought Trump wanted him to? Would he not have done it but for Trump's rhetoric? Would he have done it anyway, but maybe some other time, in some other place? Maybe. I dunno. But it's definitely the kind of act that sustained violent/hateful rhetoric, especially when coming from the very top of government, that bad actors are more likely to engage in when they've been whipped up by such rhetoric.

This seems like a just sentence - for the hurt he caused, he will never enjoy freedom again.
