This one is a good one.

Houston apparently is getting its version of 'the bean', the public art installation in Chicago's Millennium Park, and a Trib writer writes possibly the best single sentence I've ever seen written about Houston.

It’s no secret that Houston is coming for Chicago’s status as the nation’s third largest city.

But couldn’t it be a little bit more original about how it does it?

The Texas city’s latest attraction is a sculpture they bought titled Cloud Column, made by British sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor, who also created Chicago’s Cloud Gate.

It’s, er, in the shape of a bean, just like the Millennium Park icon. And it’s shiny and made of stainless steel.

If being surrounded by a cultureless abyss insufficiently communicates to confused tourists that they are in Houston, the bean’s verticality will therefore act as an additional reminder of their poor life choices.

Cool. I should go see it.
I was looking at the picture and trying to figure out where they are placing that thing.
It looks like the edge of the Museum of Fine Arts parking lot,
near the Cullen Sculpture Garden.

Of course Houston puts up a football trophy without winning. I guess it will be next to all their other fake victory trophies, like Confederate monuments.

I am thinking of the big monuments around Houston, I cannot think of any Confederate one, but likely there are a few,
But the Statue of Sam Houston, and the San Jacinto monument, both represent real victories against uneven odds.
FYI, Sam Houston was removed from the office of Governor of Texas for refusing to swear loyalty to the Confederacy.
Houston was the Elected Governor of two separate states, A US senator, and President of the Republic of Texas,
as well as the leader of the Texas war of independence, I think he deserves a statue!

Meanwhile, some people stand idly by watching the installation.

Give it time.

A similar work, all reflective steel in the shape of a water splash became one of the most loved items for the way, at various times of the day reflected different images, real and abstract - the "art" is not necessarily the object, but the variety of reflections and the way they present the object

Wow, why are people hatin' on Houston ? Houston is the most diverse City in the Nation and Houstonians have nothing to be ashamed about especially after Harvey.

Now Ive been to Chicago and it was during the winter after a few days of snow, which they apparently just pile up in any open space they can find as they wait for the spring thaw.

The streets and sidewalks were dirty, and lined with black and grey frozen slush and most of the population was camped out in their homes. I suppose this goes on for months....screw that !

The streets were open and people that had to be out were. It reminded me of how lucky I was to be born and raised in Texas, and in a warm climate.

I was unimpressed with Chicago, and couldn't wait to leave

I’m glad I won’t be interacting with you on our streets.

How can anyone interact with you people when your hold up in your homes for months on end ?
We went to the " bean " , to the Navy Pier, and there were only a handfull of people out

You know what we do during the winter ? We go to the beach ! Galveston is 30 minutes South on 45.
We have mild winters here.

I bet there's a large contingent of you people that have never seen the ocean and probably never will

You have the Lake, which was frozen over when we were there and the shores were lined with trash and it was a ghost town

Chicago was a cold, miserable and dirty City when we were there, and being there made me love ( and miss ) Texas even more

Please stay there. I’m sure your desire to do so makes Chicago that much better.

Chicago does have bragging rights, no doubt

I don't need any more reasons to hate that town.

Bugs the size of birds, overt racism, two Starbucks catty-corner from each other, and a 3 day job that went a week because a local ignored my instructions and ordered the wrong gear.

**** Houston to death.
