Illinois Primary Elections--3/20/2018

Illinois results coming in--Congressman Kinzinger.
Governor results are slow. Congressional votes are coming in quickly.

Marie Newman trails Rep. Lipinski by 3.0% with 371 of 500 precincts in CD-03.
This is a CD that under-performs terribly in general elections, hurting statewide DEMs ...

Newman closes to within 2.4% with 107 precincts out ...

The Sun-Times link has a live broadcast but it's sketchy.
Big discussion of progressives challenging Madigan stalwarts ....

Newman has gone ahead of Lipinski by 1,595 votes or 2.0% with 71 of 500 precincts remaining ...

Also of note. That nazi guy won GOP.

He ran unopposed, as did 9 other GOPs out of the 18 CDs.
Marie Newman is the progressive running against the DINOsaur Lipinski.
She's up by 1,562 votes or 1.8% with 65 more precincts to go ...

It's Lipinski by 1,595 with 61 precincts out; the Sun-Times had their #s flipped for a while ...

DINOsaur Lipinski looks safe.
Big disappointment for Illinois progress---ives.
Lipinski always has a piss-poor turnout in his CD, hurting state-wide DEM races.
I don't see Newman voters turning out, unless JB Pritzker motivates them ...

GOPs crossed over in CD-03 to help the DINO Lipinski win.
That's how it works here in Illinois with an open primary system; both ways.
GOPs weren't about to vote for the Nazi fella running unopposed.

As well, voters rebelled against outside groups supporting Newman,
and rebelled against Lipinski's colleagues supporting Newman.

This wasn't just about abortion, and Lipinski not supporting Roe v. Wade, the Constitution.
He votes with the GOP more than he doesn't.
Pro-choice in this type of CD is still a loser for progressives. Congressman Lamb is the future on that.

Gov. Rauner--we almost got him again--this time with a far right opponent.
In 2014, we almost got him with a great GOP named Dillard ...

You sure have a lot of excuses for why your person didn't win. For as much **** as you espouse against anyone Repub, I have to admit that I'm glad those damned cross-over GOPs messed your night up.

You have no clue as to your drive-by accusation and smear on me that 'I espouse so much ****', X Factor.
From what I've seen of your posting lately, you should be ashamed of yourself;
Such as coming into an election thread and pissing all over it.

I should have known better than to open this notification.
I dare you to go back and read the sum total of my posts as far as you want to go.

I put more into any one of my posts than you could ever hope to put into a dozen
of your conserva-victim posts filled with the usual moronic nonsense of trumpcons who have sold out this Nation ...

This CD was mostly working class Poles, that if not immigrants themselves - they were only 1 or 2 generations removed. During the whole of the 90's, the newly freed Poles in Europe had another emigration wave flooding the district. Now the CD still has the strong Polish base in many areas, but is getting filled with quite a few newly arrived or 1st generation Mexicans. Both groups (Polish & Mexican immigrants/recent-progeny) are hard-core practicing Catholics. So you're right, there's no love for abortion in this CD at all.

There's also no love for voter turnout in this CD, costing state-wide DEMs in recent years. Lipinski is lazy and the past.
Didn't you tell me once you supported progressives like Bernie? Bernie supported Newman.

We certainly have our own warts here in Illinois; at least I admit it; not like so many shallow posters on DP.

And thankfully Gutierrez is gone; terrible voting turnout in his CD-04 over this decade;
Chuy Lopez, supported by Bernie for Chicago Mayor, is a tremendous improvement in CD-04 ...

I never was a fan of Gutierrez, though he was indeed a pioneer as one of the first Hispanic Alderman, and he smartly aligned himself with Harold Washington from the get-go.

As to the poor CD-3 performance: When some of CD-3 was CD-5, and was old man Lupinski's & run out of the 23rd (ward), it was a decent district. And numbers out of the 23rd itself were absolutely stellar!

Pritzker versus Rauner in a titanic billion-dollar race ...

Lucky us

The Republican: RINO afraid to go up against Madigan and protector of illegal immigrants by making Illinois a sanctuary state.
The Democrat: Blago ass-kisser and possible tax evader.
