This needs to stop and be fixed. It's a racket not a benefit. (in public jobs)

When promises wont be kept because they cant be kept the thing to do is agree to a realistic plan as soon as possible so that everyone is on the same page pulling in the same direction and we minimize the chances of a catastrophic outcome.

But America does not work anymore.....plus we have given up trying to be better people and have given up on this brand new global economic system already.

Ultimately the losses and burdens will be borne by those too weak to fight them off or shift them to someone else.

Ultimately burdens will not be carried....that is the price of failure.

Lots and lots of pain is the outcome, which most people do not understand, because the education system has failed and journalism has failed and way too many folks are willfully ignorant.

Thankfully Illinois elected themselves a Democratic Governor during the Midterms so I expect Illinois to do much better over the next few years just like California did after getting rid of Schwarzenegger.
California's governor is democrat and refuses to listen to or work with republicans or conservatives.

    In all fairness:

The Democrats have controlled the governor’s mansion and both houses of the legislature since January 2003. They stayed in power even after their two-time governor was impeached following one of the biggest corruption scandals in the state’s history.

    But wait! There's more!

"Additionally, Illinois remains the third most corrupt state when compared on a per capita basis to other large states and the District of Columbia," the report's authors note.

I would echo that and point to the problem we have nationwide. We let our politicians...from both sides of the aisle...mortgage our grandchildrens future without paying for our programs as we go. There are no angels here.

Guy I went to grade school with was a homicide detective, in a near Chicago suburb. He retired in his 40's. Now, he collects roughly $120K per year, plus COLA, for the rest of his life.
