This is a big deal because the Teamsters are a big union in Ohio. For a while, a leftwing Democrat interest group was running ads against Portman claiming he was helping China against US workers and that he supported NAFTA (which of course was supported by Clinton). Well now there are ads supporting Portman for his advocacy of American workers over Chinese imports but the endorsement from one of the biggest unions in Ohio is going to help him as he has pulled ahead of Strickland.

Portman was already destroying his opposition - a study in the reality that politics can still be local. My understanding was that the DNC was pulling out. This ought to be the final nail in the coffin, I think.

yeah I haven't seen any of the anti Portman idiocy lately-the one of a flaming asshole on a scooter was really annoying

Clinton administration drug czar general Barry McCaffrey has come out and endorsed Portman and is making advertisements on behalf of Rob. I wouldn't say the race is over but the fat lady is starting towards the stage. If Hildabeast wins the election, I'd hope Portman runs in 2020, he's a far better candidate than any of those who ran for either party this year

Strickland blew it the moment he said "Scalia died 'at a good time.'”.

having the teamsters endorse portman and strickland-who once refused to support clinton's gun ban becoming a big gun control fan lost him tons of support. those were the two final nails in the coffin

I read something about this election earlier today. It had to do with Applegate (whatever his name is) peeking through his ex wife's window and two restraining orders and a DUI. He had the gull to whine that Portman was being unfair using this in his campaign against Applegate (whatever his name is). It sounds like Portman has a pretty good lead so far.

Ted Strickland is the Dem nominee. former Pro gun congressman, then governor (lost to Kasich in his attempt at a second term) and then went to DC to work for some Dem lobbying group and become far more leftwing

I am confusing this with another election then. I read about a bunch of the senate races yesterday. My bad.

Has any major union in Ohio ever backed a Republican for a major office?

It's never happened in my neck of the woods!
