It's only natural for them to like Shiite leaders.

incorrect

Iran has a region of proxies in the middle east from Pakistan to Lebanon and is used to deploy in wars. For example, In Syria afghan shia militias and Hezbollah stepped up for Assad and helped him win.

While with raw strength, America is greater than Iran but when you factor in Syria and all of their dozens of proxy militias, Iran is pretty powerful, they dont make their opponents superior weapons and numbers by raw matching it but try to make it irrelevant.
