“Islamic medicine specialist” says camel urine cures coronavirus

An “Islamic medicine specialist” from Iran urged Iranians to drink camel urine, claiming it can cure several diseases including coronavirus, according to a video posted on Instagram which has since gone viral.

Drinking camel urine can cure lung diseases, asthma, and coronavirus, “Islamic medicine specialist” Mehdi Sabili said in a video shared on his Instagram page.

Sabili’s video went viral on social media on Sunday.

“Islamic medicine” in Iran relies on the sayings of the Shia Imams to treat patients and is dismissive of modern medicine.

Sabili is the head of the “scientific-educational association of Imam Sadegh’s medicine” in Iran and has over 60,000 followers on Instagram.
Sabili himself drank some camel urine in the video, saying he needed it to protect him from the air pollution in Tehran.

He advised his viewers to drink camel urine three times a day for three days and said that the urine is best drunk while in its “initial, hot temperature.”…
 
This goes back to a hadieth

The climate of Medina did not suit some people, so the Prophet ordered them to follow his shepherd, i.e. his camels, and drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they followed the shepherd that is the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy.

(Bukhari 76.9.5686)


But hey, we are in the 21st century, drinking piss from any creature is not healthy.

Humans used it as a last resort in critical situations, however it does not cure anything.

It may theoretically be possible to get health benefits. It would not be that different than people getting some benefits from drinking milk. Supposedly if you feed your goats poison ivy, drinking its milk or eating cheese made from that milk, will over time do away with your allergic reactions to poison ivy.

There are lots of "old wives tales" about similar remedies, however we now have modern medicine.

The waste from any creature is just that, "Waste",, sure it will contain water and traces of other nutrients.

A woman's menstrual waste contains lots of iron and potassium, but I would not suggest drinking it.

In this case it was Muhammed himself who said it," supposedly" so it does, and will carry on throughout the existence of Islam.
You can buy it in some marketplaces in the Muslim world today

Modern medicine is killing a lot of people, just more slowly. I however, did not suggest anybody do anything. I simply did not discount there being a possible benefit out of hand. Perhaps scientists will get around to studying it one day.

Actually your comment in an oxymoron, Christian and witch doctor are not in the same religion.

Now we know when people convert en-mass many times they have to merge their existing religion with the new one.

Even todays Christianity is a combination of Judism and the New covenant.
God just changed his mind.

Islam also has parts of Judism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism , and Greek medical.
God changed his mind again.


Judism itself came from the Summarion and other sources.

Christianity has a healthy dose of Roman paganism too. It is a fascinating thing to look at if one is not so hung up in the “my religion is true are derived from The Word of God” thing.
