Good question -- it is extreme, but unfortunately a large number of people fit into that designation. Pew did a study a few years back on how many Arabs in various Middle Eastern nations supported terrorism in its different forms. I don't remember the exact stats now -- they could be googled -- but a surprising number of Arabs supported terrorism of one form or another.
It wouldn't be surprising to you if you studied the Qur'an. It flat out tells Muslims to fight for the spread of Islam.
