Trump Holds 'Wonderful' Meeting With Erdogan Amid Strained U.S.-Turkey Relations

Trump Holds 'Wonderful' Meeting With Erdogan Amid Strained U.S.-Turkey Relations

    Trump and Erdowan.

    11/14/19
U.S. President Donald Trump has said Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 missile defense systems creates "serious challenges" that he hopes can be resolved. Trump made the comments on November 13 after holding what he called "wonderful and very productive" talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House, as relations between the two NATO allies are at one of their lowest points in decades. In July, Turkey received its first S-400 shipment, prompting the United States to kick Ankara off its F-35 fighter jet program. Washington says the sophisticated weaponry is incompatible with NATO equipment. Turkey is "a great NATO ally and a strategic partner of the United States," Trump told a joint press conference with Erdogan, adding, "I'm a big fan of the president."

Erdogan also said that Turkey was "hurt deeply" by last month's nonbinding House resolution describing the killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the 20th century as genocide. He said the move, which was a clear rebuke to Ankara in the wake of its invasion of northern Syria, had the potential to cast a "deep shadow over our bilateral relations." Before flying to Washington, Erdogan acknowledged that he was making the visit "at a period when Turkish-American relations are going through a painful process."

Trump is a big fan of every murderous dictator. At least 700 Syrian Kurd US allies have been killed by Turk forces since Trump gave Erdowan the green-light to invade northern Syria in early October.

The Armenian Genocide is a historical fact recognized by most nations of the world.

btw - yesterday Sen. Lindsey Graham (R/SC) killed a nonbinding Senate resolution describing the killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the 20th century as genocide.

Graham blocks resolution recognizing Armenian genocide after Erdoğan meeting

    11/13/19
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) blocked a resolution on Wednesday that would have formally recognized the Ottoman Empire's genocide against the Armenian people. Graham's objection came hours after he took part in a White House meeting with Trump, Erdoğan and a group of GOP senators. The resolution passed the House in a 405-11 vote. Turkey does not recognize the killing of 1.5 million Armenians as genocide.
Apparently, Graham is also becoming an Erdowan fan.

Whatever happened to the Lindsey Graham of the original 3 Amigos?

And when the first series sells out - they can do a Second Series with Trump kissing the ass of infamous despots throughout past history. Hitler... Stalin .... Mussolini.... Attila the Hun .... the possibilities are endless.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

There's already a Trumpster teddy bear, complete with squirrel pelt hair. Maybe an action figure series should be next.
