[h=1]Putin had to approve Russian attack on US troops[/h]
https://nypost.com/2018/02/13/russians-attacked-american-troops-on-putins-orders/

It was inevitable. Russian “mercenaries” attacked a forward base in Syria where they knew American advisors were stationed. It was a test. And our military passed.
Let’s hope the administration passes, too.

The most important thing about this attack on our troops is that it couldn’t have happened without Vladimir Putin’s personal approval.

Now that Russia is approving attacks against US service members, I wonder what president pansy is going to do about it? Anything?

[h=3]Oct. 3, 2013[/h]Trump tells Larry King on Ora TV that Putin has done “a really great job outsmarting our country.”

[h=3]Feb. 10, 2014[/h]Trump says Putin contacted him during Miss Universe and was “so nice:”

“When I went to Russia with the Miss Universe pageant, (Putin) contacted me and was so nice. I mean, the Russian people were so fantastic to us,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” “I’ll just say this, they are doing – they’re outsmarting us at many turns, as we all understand. I mean, their leaders are, whether you call them smarter or more cunning or whatever, but they’re outsmarting us. If you look at Syria or other places, they’re outsmarting us.”

[h=3]March 3, 2014[/h]Amid Russian aggression in Ukraine, Trump tells "Fox and Friends" that Mitt Romney was right about Russia being a “geopolitical foe.”

"Well Mitt Romney was so right, and nobody knew how right he was going to be, and you look at Obama's response and just take a look at what's going on," said Trump. "Syria was propped up by Russia. Syria's now back in their fold 100% and that whole deal is coming to an end because Russia's taken over."

[h=3]March 24, 2014[/h]Trump tells "Fox and Friends" Mitt Romney was right that Russia was “our biggest problem.”

"Well, Mitt was right, and he was also right when he mentioned in one of the debates about Russia, and he said, 'Russia's our biggest problem, and Russia is, you know, really something,'" Trump said.

"He said it's a hell of a problem, and everybody laughed at him, including certain media, by the way," continued Trump. "They laughed. It turned out that he's absolutely right. You look at what Russia's doing with Iran, how they controlled the situation, and Syria, and virtually every other place that ... We were thrown out of every place. I'm not saying we should be there. We should rebuild our own schools and our own bridges and highways and everything else. To be scoffed at and thrown around the way we're being thrown around is absolutely unthinkable."

[h=3]April 16, 2014[/h]“Putin is having a great time toying with the President,” Trump says on Fox News’ “Hannity.”

Putin has shown the world what happens when America has weak leaders. Peace Through Strength!

Those were Russian private military contractors (PMC/kontractniki) from Wagner Group with some Assad forces.

I doubt Putin himself approved this, but undoubtedly a Russian Army commander certainly did. I'd say it was indeed a test.

The city of Deir ez-Zor sits on the deconfliction line (Euphrates River). The city is occupied by Kurdish/US forces cleaning out some remaining pockets of ISIS.

By mutual agreement, Russian/Assad land/air assets operate west of the Euphrates. US/Kurdish land/air assets operate east of the Euphrates.

Since November 2017, Russian/Assad forces have been pressing coalition forces to abandon Deir ez-Zor which is the largest significant city until the Iraq border.

It seems ... they pressed someone a bit too hard and got an ass beating.
